Late Night at Gymnastics

Hello all,

Well, tonight the kids started their fall tour with Mercury Gymnastics. Ali's class is first while Zac's starts 15 minutes later. Both kids went up a level from their summer classes and it showed. The kids looked to be having fun. Both Jennifer and I could tell that both Ali and Zac were listening carefully to what their teacher wanted them to do. After a few rotations, they had the hang of it.

The biggest change was for Zac. This fall Zac will be in an all boys class. This means he will be working on parallel bars, rings and a lot of tumbling -- right up his alley. The largest challenge for Zac will be getting over his fear of the unknown. If you know Zac, you know that Zac does not like to do anything that he has not "mastered". Tonight was no exception. At one point his teacher sent him up to Jennifer and I because he was pouting and laying with his head down. After a minute with mom and dad, Zac was ready to rejoin his class as they jumped in the foam pit.

Our hope is that Zac will get over his fear of the unknown soon. It will be a long childhood if he is unwilling to try something new. The thing is, he normally gets it down quickly and can't remember why he did not like it in the first place!

Good night,

-Andy
