Ali in Minnesota

Hello all,

My mother-in-law Diane has taken Ali up to Minnesota for a summer graduation reception. The house is quiet with only Zac running around. The little guy mopes around without having his sister to play with. He will be happy when she returns tomorrow.

Happy Father's Day

Hello all,

Today was tough for me as I thought it would be. This has been a rough day. I have been missing my dad a lot recently. Church was tough, watching the US Open was tough and not talking to my dad at 2:00 was the hardest part of my day.

I miss you dad.

Quick 9 holes

Hello all,

This morning I was able to get a quick nine holes in at Maple Creek Golf Course. I shot 4 over par. Not a bad outing for me. I teed off at 8:00 in the morning. The dew was still on the grass so putting was harder than normal. As I hit my first putt, water was thrown from the ball as it rolled. I knew right then that my day on the greens was going to be tough.

I will say a bad day on the course is still better than my best day in my office!

Missing my dad

Hello all,

This week has been a very hard week for me. Part of it is the fact that Father's Day is this Sunday. As long as I have been in Kansas City, my father and I have called each other on Sunday afternoon while we watch the U.S. Open on TV. It was our way of sharing the day together when we were apart. If I had only known that last year would be my last year to be with him. I would have gone up to Randolph and spent the day with him instead of electing to stay in Kansas City. If I only would have known...

I could really have used his advice this week on a number of issues. Dad was always there for me. I could call him anytime and explain what I was up against and what I thought my options were. After listening to everything I had to say, he would either lead me to an answer by giving me a series of questions or let me go down that path of questions without him. Either way, he was always there at the end of the conversation. He was my template. If I came to the same conclusion he did, I felt like I had figured it out on my own. The best complement he could give me at that time was "That is what I would do in this situation". It was his personal stamp of approval. Job well done. I really could have used his help this week though. I just needed him so badly.

I miss you so much Dad. Why did God take you as soon as he did? It isn't fair... It just isn't fair.

I'll see you in my dreams Dad.

Went to the dentist

Hello all,

This morning I went to the dentist to have a tooth restored. I was there from 7:00 to 10:00 and my face did not feel right again until after 2:00 in the afternoon. So much for enjoying my day of vacation.

Flat tire

Hello all,

You know it is a Monday when you have a flat tire on your way into work. I had a four inch bolt that went through my sidewall and had to replace the tire. Oh well, at least it was an easy fix.

Sunburned

Hello all,

My sunburn is starting to fade today. While golfing on Saturday, both Jen and I were burned on our faces and forearms. Jen got it worse than me. As she says, she does white well. :) Now she is crispy on her arms. I hope you start to feel better soon Jen.

Quiet day at home

Hello all,

Well the rain came last night. It was good to be home when the bad weather hit. After three hours of rain, my rain gauge had 2.5 inches of rain it in it. Wow... What a night.

Winning Team

Hello all,

VICTORY!!!

The team of Larry Thompson, David Thompson, Jennifer Scott and myself won 1st place in the 5th annual Delta Sigma Phi golf tournament held at Mizingo Golf Course in Maryville Missouri today. Our team shot 12 under par and won by one stoke. This is the second time my team has won first place. In 2003, my team of David Thompson, Bill Scott, Marv Penning and myself won by 3 strokes.

It was good to see all of my old friends again. Many of them are still in the area. They are doing well and enjoying life. I want to take a moment to say thank you to Marc VanGorp and Brett Christian for setting up the tournament this year. I hope that the money raised by this event will help the active chapter continue to grow!

Also, Jon Von -- it was great to see you on Saturday. I wish we would of had more time to talk. Stay safe while flying your FA-18E Super Hornet for the US Marine Corps.

I had to run home this morning to get the house cleaned up for a showing this afternoon. I had to put the brochures out as well as pick some toys up in Ali and Zac's rooms. I think this is our second buyer!

June 1st.

Hello all,

Things are getting better today. Steve and I were able to meet today and come to an understanding on how our two pieces of our project are going to work together. That is a good thing.

I was also able to get Ali into the dentist this afternoon to get her cap put back on her front left tooth. Hopefully this one will stay on this time. I'll let you know how it goes in tomorrows post.
