Last day of May

Hello all,

Today Ali had her teeth put back in. She reacted the same way this time as the first. After a lot of crying and squirming, the dentist was finished and she said, "It didn't hurt, right?". Ahhh... I love my daughter, but she came close to driving me crazy today!

Also, our air conditioner was repaired this morning. It required 1 pound of coolant to make it work properly. A salesman was dispatched to sell us a new comfort system. Needless to say, they are very proud of their furnace / air conditioners. I'll be looking at more quotes as the summer goes along.

Blowing off some steam

Hello all,

After a stressful software install Friday, the office is a much lighter place today. As an example, Steve and I were having fun playing with our camera phones. Here is one of our best pictures.

Smile pretty for the camera Steve.

Memorial Day

Hello all,

Today would have been a great day to sit on the deck and watch the kids play... well that is if it was not raining. Jen and I are going to Gladstone Bowl in a few minutes and have some fun with the kids. After that we are going over to Diane's for dinner. I hope you are all having a great Memorial Day and are remembering those that have passed before us.

Thoughts of Memorial Day

Hello all,

Today's church service moved me to tears. Every year my church allows individuals to put the names of those they have lost into a basket during communion. At the end of the service, each name is read out loud. As I placed Dad's name into the basket, Rev. Kendall came up to shake my hand and give me a hug. It was impossible to not cry at the alter then. Before the entire congregation, I mourned the loss of my father again. Like rushing water, the feelings exploded out of me. I cried a cleansing cry. As the final song was being played, I prayed for my father in Heaven. I hope that he is doing well and sees me from time to time. I am doing all I can Dad. Some days are just harder than others. I am sure you understand.

Thanks for reading.

Poor Ali

Hello all,

Ali's teeth lasted only two days. She was chewing on a piece of candy and they were pulled out of place. They will need to be repaired and reset. At this pace, it will be a long two years.

On a bright side, the family had a good day together. We went shopping for some birthday gifts over at Zona Rosa and took in a late movie. I recommend seeing Over the Hedge. It is not only fun for the kids, but Jen and I were laughing at the jokes as well.

Better close for the night,

SODS install

Hello all,

It is 3:10 in the afternoon and my 10:00 install is dragging on without an end in sight. The application is working as designed; however, there are issues connecting to a remote server. I hate it when I hear that "everything will work" from the same people that struggled for a month to set up the test and development environment.

Thanks for letting me rant for a minute.

Hello all,

This morning the new company held a pep rally at Hale Arena in Downtown KC. It was nice to see the new commercials and hear the speakers talk about the company's future. I sure hope it all works like they say it will.

Golfing at Shoal Creek

Hello all,

This morning my wife Jennifer, Father-in-law Larry Thompson and good friend Jon Bremer played wonderful links of Shoal Creek that is located near Liberty Missouri. The teams for our game were Larry and Jennifer vs. Jon and I. My wife's team took an early three stoke lead. It was not looking good for Jon and I. On the ninth hole I watched Larry hit the best shot I have ever seen. His ball was positioned on a hill overlooking the green. The hole was guarded by five very large trees with a narrow gap that meandered through them. Larry, before hitting his ball, called his shot. He said he was going to cut the ball from the right of the hole and bring it around the second tree and then shoot the gap between the next two trees to put the ball on the green. We all waited as he took he addressed the ball and swung. The ball started right, curved on command and slipped through the narrow gap and came to rest less than a foot from the pin. Larry had just executed a perfect shot. Way to go.

After a quick stop in the clubhouse at the turn for a hot dog and a bottle of water, it was time to start the back nine. Jennifer hit a great drive and set her team up for a great approach. Jon and I had a difficult shot from the right rough, but managed to get it on the green for a birdie attempt. I'll skip what happened next and just say both teams finished with par for the hole.

Things were rolling for my team until the thirteenth hole. Jon and I had a three stroke lead and were playing well. Then our luck turned. We both hit our drives out of bounds. Then hit our next shot out of bounds again. My approach to the green missed and John's was just on the fringe. It was not looking good for our team. Our three stokes evaporated before our eyes and we would have been behind if it was not for Jon's key put to save a seven.

On 14 my driver returned and both Jon and I were in the fairway. Jennifer had been driving the ball well all day and really gave her team a great opportunity to score well. But it was not their team's day. Jon and I walked up to the eighteenth green with a three stoke lead. Victory was ours.

I know it was not the Masters or the US Open, but it was nice to play today with the people I care about the most. I hope to play more this year and continue to improve. Thank you all for making this day as much fun as it was.

Back to the dentist

Hello all,

Today Ali went to the dentist to have a mold taken of her front teeth. Her new teeth will be fabricated and ready in a few weeks. The dental assistant let me feel the "stuff". It has the consistency of cold instant potatoes and tastes like bubble gum. She was a real trooper while the mold was being made. Before it was the gel was put in the mold, Ali was able to hold the mouth piece. That made everything ok in her world. After a short 30 seconds, it was all over and her tears were wiped away. Her giggles returned and Ali was telling me that everything was ok and it didn't hurt. I love this kid.

Good night!

Fun in the backyard

Hello all,

A big THANK YOU goes out to my sister Danna and her husband Kevin for buying me the halogen lights a few years back for Christmas. They came in very handy for the first ever night of baseball at the Scott House. Yes it may be dark, but with the light's blazing it was mid-afternoon for Ali and Zac playing baseball in the backyard. They both had a ball playing under the lights like the Royals.

Thanks again Danna and Kevin!

Been a while

Hello all,

It has been a while since I last wrote in my blog. I have been busy with work and playing with the kids so I apologize. I want to say Hello to Mary Brown for checking my website and keeping me motivated to write in it from time to time. As for my family, all are doing well. Ali and Zac are growing like weeds it seems. They are both growing up before my eyes. I find myself wanting to play with them more and more because I know these times will go by quickly.

The kids are getting interested in baseball these days. So, like good parents, Jennifer and I bought them both a baseball tee to hit off of in the back yard. Zac hits left handed and can really crush a ball if he puts his mind to it. Ali is a little less interested, but will play as long as Zac and I are out there having fun.

Well, I should get going.
