MRI this morning

Hello all,

I had my MRI this morning. I was there at 7:30 as instructed. The tests did not start until after 8:20... It was after 9:00 when I finally finished. The hardest part was laying completely still during the tests. As soon as they started, I wanted to sneeze. Can you believe that? As soon as the machine started to buzz, my nose started to itch. For almost an hour I tried to forget about it. As soon as it was over, my nose did not itch as bad. I guess it was all in my mind.

MRI scheduled

Hello all,

I have my MRI scheduled for 8:00 tomorrow morning. After that I will know if I have torn anything in my right ankle. I hope that I do not need to go all the way into the tube. Oh well... I've survived this long, one more day without knowing will not be that bad.

Hot to Cold

Hello all,

Yesterday's temperature was very warm for January. It was almost in the 60's! Today it is suppose to snow and be in the teens! Yikes! As for my ankle, it is in an ice bath as I write this entry. I am tired of icing it. I'm tired of crutches. I'm tired of being injured.

Insurance Stinks

Hello all,

I was hoping to have my MRI today, but the insurance company needs 3 days to get it approved. I am scheduled for Thursday morning at 7:30. I'll keep you posted on how I improve.

This afternoon I went back to Urgent Care for a second opinion on my right ankle. They looked at my X-ray again and agreed that it is not broken; however, they want me to have an MRI tomorrow.

Hair Cut

Hello all,

I went to get a haircut today. At least I look better now. It had been over a month since my last trim. I can't wait until May when i can go back to using a #2 to cut my hair. It is always much easier to get ready in the morning.

Home Early

Hello all,

I left work early today to return to my home and ice my foot. As I was walking into the office this morning, my crutches slipped on some of the snow. I had to put my full weight on my right foot for a brief second. I am in pain now and looking forward to my foot going numb in the water.

Back to Work

Hello all,

I crutch-ed my way into the office today. Wow, what an effort. I don't think I will be doing this again unless I absolutely have to. It is a very long walk from the parking garage to my desk.

Day 4

Hello all,

The foot is getting better I guess. It is completely back-and-blue, but the swelling is getting better. I took Ali to gymnastics tonight and sat on the bleachers while she practiced. She did a great job as usual.

Good night,

Day 3

Hello all,

I managed to get out of bed this morning and put some pressure on my right foot without acute pain. The pain I feel is more pressure and discomfort which is to be expected. I am using the crutches still. My hands hurt a lot and I have a blister on my left hand, but other than that I am fine.

Day 2

Hello all,

Day two of the recovery effort. I worked from home today. I finished my review for Embarq today. I will have my official review on Friday at 10:00. I guess it is all over except for the signatures. I hate to think that I have been working for a company for 10 years and can expect what I am about to hear. I will be told that I am a great asset to the company and I have exceeded my managers expectations. However, due to the budget their hands are tied... blah blah blah.

Oh well. I'll keep you posted.

Day 1

Hello all,

Day one of my recovery. I am keeping it elevated and iced. It is starting to bruise, so that is a good sign. I wish I was more mobile, but I will be patient and work on a slow recovery.

Good night,

Great to hear from you Von

Hello all,

Von, I hope you are checking this from Iraq! Thank you for everything you do as a Marine aviator! Jennifer and I are very proud of you.

The kids are over at Diane's house right now due to an injury I sustained while at the grocery store. I was carrying Ali from HY-VEE and must have walked too close to the curb. As I was walking, I managed to slide off the sidewalk and sprain my right ankle as I was holding Ali. I laid in the street while several adults walked by. No one stopped to ask me if I was ok. Ali asked me if I was OK and then started to cry when she realized I was in pain. I managed to get to my feet and limp to the car. Ali did her best to make it better. She asked if I wanted her to drive. As a 7 year old, I thought it was sweet. We made it back to the house and Jennifer had a bucket of ice water ready for me. I am icing my foot right now. It hurts a lot!

I'll keep you posted.

Hello all,

Tonight Ali, Zac, Jen, Diane and I went to the movies as a family. The girls went to see the movie 27 Dresses while Zac and I went to Veggie Tails. After the movies, we went to have dinner at Olive Garden. It was a good day at work. I did not finish my review, but at least I made progress.

Night with friends

Hello all,

Tonight we had some friends over to our house for a Party Lite candle party for our friend Brandi. This was her third party and I think it went very well for her. Everyone had a good time and enjoyed the candles. Afterwards, we enjoyed some of the snacks that Jennifer had prepared for us all.

Good-night,

Guitar Hero Update

Hello all,

I have almost caught up with Jennifer as we pursue Guitar Hero fame! I have beaten level one and almost through level 2. What I like most about this game is it makes me think. I have to keep the beat and play the notes in the right order all the time to get the best score. I hate to say this, I think I am actually practicing to get better. Sometimes, I forget that I am playing a game and not just playing an instrument for fun.

Gymnastics and Pizza

Hello all,

Tonight Zac and I had a guys night out. I took him to gymnastics for his weekly lesson and then to Pizza Shoppe for dinner. We had a great time just being guys -- NO GIRLS! We could put all the sprinkle cheese on our pizza as we wanted. We just had a ball together. Afterwords we went home and played Guitar Hero on the Wii. I was lead guitar and Zac was on drums. What a great time!

Cold day in the house

Hello all,

Last Sunday I washed the car in the driveway. Today it is 35° F outside and I'm freezing. The kids are under the weather and so is Jennifer. I can't believe what a change the weather can make in your life.

Night Out

Hello all,

Tonight Jennifer and I went to her Unimed II Holiday party at Ameristar Casino. It was a great night out with her co-workers. The best part of the night was the magician. I know what you are thinking, but it was really cool. I don't know how he was able to move his hands as fast as he did,but it was VERY impressive.

Hello all,

Wow, what a great night! Jennifer and I had three perspective BeautiControl Hostesses over to our house last night to be spa'd. Vanna and Kim really like the product and are thinking of booking spas in February. Way to go Jennifer! You are going to make a great BC Director!

Fever for Ali, No School

Hello all,

As much as she tried, Ali could not make it school this morning due to a fever. She stayed at home with me and was in bed until 10:30. By 2:00 in the afternoon, I was ALMOST willing to drop her off at the school to get out of my hair. Wow, the girl had a BUNCH of energy once her fever broke.

This evening, Jennifer and I cleaned up the living room and kitchen as we expect guests tonight for BeautiControl. The kids were suppose to clean up their rooms, but they did not.

Waffles vs. Pancakes

Hello all,

Once and for all we had the dual of the decade in the Scott house. Ali likes waffles and Zac likes pancakes. So, to settle it I made both recipes tonight. I must say, I am an awesome cook, so I think they BOTH are excellent. However, the judges were split on which were better. Zac held his ground on my pancakes while Ali thinks waffles are the best. I guess the debate will continue. . .

Up Early

Hello all,

I could not sleep last night so I was up and at it early. Zac and I had breakfast early and waited for mom to get up and eat. We were soon on our ways to church and back home for the NFL games on TV.

In the afternoon I worked on laundry while Jennifer and the kids cleaned up the main level of the house. All that clean space was soon occupied by Girl Scout cookies. Yep, they all came in tonight. The job of sorting the out into individual orders fell on the Scott team. We worked well together.

Good night,

Relaxing after a 3 Day Week

Hello all,

Well I survived three days of work. Wow. I should be congratulated. I met with Bill Leon, Amy Krohn and Deb Wheeler for drinks tonight at Old Chicago to celebrate Bill and my ten years with the company. Well, it is not with the same company really, I was with Sprint, then IBM then Sprint and now Embarq. Oh well, I guess 10 years is 10 years. Thank you all for the shared stories.

Good night,

Walking on the Treadmill

Hello all,

Tonight I climbed on the treadmill to walk a few miles. I did not use the treadmill at all while I was on vacation and my body is feeling the effects. Oh, I can't wait for the Gladstone community center to open so that I can go there and play basketball. I think it would be easier to get in shape if I could do more than just walk in place.

Back In The Office

Hello all,

It has been an active day for me at work. I was called in December about a problem that my AIX server was having. I started to work on it a little while on vacation, but today was really my first day I put my weight behind the problem. I found an issue with SENDSOD. There was an array that was declared at 90 characters; however, the data going into that array was over 200 characters long. It was simple to fix once I found it. The problem was finding it. One problem down. I'm sure more will follow.

Good night,

Happy New Year

Hello all,

The new year is here finally and it came in with a bang. Our neighbors set off fireworks last night at midnight. Zac fell asleep at 11:45 in my arms so he missed it, but Ali managed to hang on until midnight. She stood on her tip toes in the bathroom tub to see out the window. All three of us watched as the sky was filled with colors. Thanks for staying up Boo. I hope you enjoyed the show.

I woke up with Zac at 8:30 this morning and fixed breakfast for the family. It was just us guys at first. The ladies of the house were tardy for breakfast. They really ate brunch.

The day was filled with football. One bowl game after another was on our screen. The kids played upstairs and in the basement for most of the day. I can't blame them. It is cold outside.

Well, it is time for bed. I'll write more tomorrow.
