Fun at the IVM picnic

Hello all,

This afternoon Jeff Ratcliff, Bill Foley and I attended the Embarq / Unisys Integrated Voicemail appreciation picninc that was held at Lion's Gate Country Club. Wow, let me tell you it was a lot of fun to see some of the best senior players play the game of golf. They can really hit the ball well. It was also a lot of fun to see some of the "not so good" amatures play beside them. I now know there are worse players out these than me!

Kids on their way home

Hello all,

My mom just called and said the troops have hit the road for Kansas City. I know it has only been a day, but I am really looking forward to giving Ali and Zac a big hug and a kiss. Thanks for taking the kids for a trip mom. I am sure Jen and I will hear a lot about it for months to come.

Pictures of the kids at the Farmers Merchants Picnic

Hello all,

My mother and sister Danna took the kids to the Farmers Merchants Picnic last night in Tabor, Iowa. From the sound of the kids on the phone, they really enjoyed themselves in my old stomping grounds!

Here are a few of the pictures from Danna's camera.

Thank you Danna for the great picturse!

First Day of Vaction Bible School

Hello all,

Tonight was the first day of vacation bible school at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. You may recall two years ago I posted several entries about the bible school adventures. This year's theme is Viva Jesus. As you can guess, the setting is in Mexico where the characters are very cute and entertaining. Last night both Ali and Zac had a great time dancing and singing to the new silly songs.

Day at home with the kids

Hello all,

Today was a day with the kids. Jennifer has been down with an allergy headache for most of the day so the kids and I played and tried to keep the house as quiet as possible for mom to beat this headache off. I hope she can shake free from this thing soon. She has a busy day scheduled for tomorrow with the church.

Not cancer

Hello all,

I just got back from the doctor's office. The growth removed last Tuesday was just a wart. While I was there, I had some blood drawn so that my cholesterol can be measured.

Still working on my program

Hello all,

I have been working on a program since June 14th. I am attempting to revamp this program to use linked-lists instead of database cursors. Anyway, it is really making me scratch my head. Thanks for listening to me complain.

Getting hotter

Hello all,

I was watching the news last night and the weather man said the last day of Spring is Wednesday. Summer officially starts on Thursday. Unless you have been living in a box somewhere, you should not need the 10 o'clock news to let you know summer is here. It is really hot outside now.

Father's Day

Hello all,

Happy Father's Day! This morning my wife made blueberry muffins for the family. Thank you very much Jennifer. They were delicious. Ali and Zac came into our bedroom and gave me a kiss and a hug and wished me a Happy Father's Day. After breakfast, I ran to SAMS Club for some brats for lunch while Jennifer showed the house to her mother's side of the family.

Larry's side of the family came over to watch the final round of the US Open and eat a late lunch. It was nice to see Jen's Aunt Rhonda and Grandma from West Virginia. It has been three years since I have seen Rhonda.

======================
Dad,

I talked to Danna this afternoon and she said that she was going to stop by and see you. I know that I have not been by to see you in a while, but I hope you know that I think of you all of the time. I often think of you sitting on the porch with mom drinking a Pepsi or sitting in your orange truck heading to town. I still recall it took six revolutions to roll the window down in that truck. But anyway... Happy Father's Day Dad. Your son misses you a whole bunch.

Love you,

-Bud

Congratulations!

Late night

Hello all,

Wow.. what a night. After a wonderful rehearsal dinner (which happened to have a long story associated with it as well ) the party resumed back at our house. It is a good thing the house was cleaned yesterday. I would not have wanted everyone over if we had the house filled with cars and toys.

Anyway, the wedding party came over and had a great time. I enjoyed getting to know Susie's friends and family better. I am looking forward to getting to know Jeff and Michelle better in the months to come.

OK, it is late. We have a wedding today.

Good night.

Getting ready for the wedding

Hello all,

David and Susie's wedding is on Saturday! The last minute "to do" list is getting longer and longer. Jen and I were to clean the first floor tonight. It did not get done. Hopefully tomorrow it will clean itself.

Forearm

Hello all,

Today I had a growth removed from my right forearm. My doctor didn't think that it looked like skin cancer so I am hopeful for the best. I will know the results in 10 days. Until then, my stitches will allow my body to repair itself.

Good night,

-Andy

Ah... I love Monday

Hello all,

I am so tired today. I wish I could have stayed in bed and slept for a few more hours. Today is going to be a very long day. Hopefully a walk at lunch will help to wake me up.

Not my best effort

Hello all,

Yesterday was not my best effort at golf. I started off well, but as the sun grew hotter my game declined. Muscle memory took over by the 12th tee and my old swing that I thought was banished from my life crept back into my body. I was soon throwing every ball to the right. I ended up shooting a 108 on a par 74 course. As I said in my opening sentence, yesterday was not my best effort.

On the good side, I had a great day today with my family. We went out to the Royals game for Slugerrr's 10th birthday. Both Ali and Zac received a stuffed animal replica of the mascot. They were both happy to get a new toy. It almost made up for the Royals losing 8-2.

Finally Friday

Hello all,

Yeah!!! I have made it another week! I am really looking forward to golfing at Prairie Highlands tomorrow with my Brother-in-law David Thompson and his friends. Tomorrow is his bachelor party. I'll be one of the oldest participants in the event. I am sure I'll be the brunt of many a joke tomorrow. Wish me luck keeping the ball in the short grass.

Granit City

Hello all,

The team went to lunch today at Granite City. I was talking about the BBQ meatloaf sandwich that I had there on Mother's Day and Jeff and Steve thought they needed to evaluate it themselves. After a scenic drive through Kansas, we finally arrived at the restaurant. The dish lived up to every one's expectations and we returned to our desks ready for an afternoon nap. (I am sure no one did sleep on the job...)

Mowing the yard

Hello all,

You know what, I love to mow the yard. It is my time to just relax and work through some of the issues of the day without a lot of distractions. Think about it; how much brain power is needed to push a mower from one end of the yard and then turn around and walk back?

Remembering D-Day

Hello all,

I walked the beaches of Normandy in September of 1994 while I was an exchange student to the Czech Republic. I was able to talk with many veterans of World War II while I visited that area of France. In 1994 I was 21 years old, three years older than many of them when they waded ashore that cold June morning. They have lived their lives with haunting memories of life and death decisions that they made sixty-two years ago. I truly appreciate the sacrifices these men have made for my country.

First day of June

Hello all,

Summer is upon us. The heat and humidity are coming our way. I know, I did not go to school for six years and get my degree in meteorology, but I can tell when it is hot and humid. I am glad our house will be cool when I get home. At least I don't have to worry about that.
