SQL Class

Hello all,

I was in class for eight hours today going over basic SQL. I've been writing SQL for eleven years, but DST requires that each associate take this class. Ah.. I wish I could have tested out of it.

Support...

Hello all,

Today was another day of being on support for Vision. So far the pager has only gone off a few times each day. My fear is getting paged at 4 AM and having to answer questions. That is always the worst case scenario for being on support.

Yard Mowed

Hello all,

Mission accomplished... Yard has been mowed and fertilizer had been put down for the last feeding of the year. The yard looks good. I turned the sprinkers on and allowed the grass seed to get soaked. Now I need to keep the soil moist to allow the seed to take root.

BEARCATS WIN

Hello all,

BEARCATS - Win
Huskers - Win

What a great day to be a college football fan. The Bearcats won 70-0. The Huskers put a whooping on their opponent as well with a shutout. Way to go.

After the game I dropped by the DSP house to say hello to Mitch and the boys. It was nice to see the actives having fun and enjoying themselves. Zac had a good time seeing the house and chatting with some of Dad's fraternity brothers.

Finally Friday

Hello all,

I did something today that I had not done in years. I met my wife for lunch. Now, I have had lunch with Jen before, but I had always taken the day off from work. Today, I drove from downtown to her office and went to Panera for a soup and sandwich. It was a nice way to end the work week.

Royals Game

Hello all,

The season is coming to and end, but the Royals are still a fun team to go out and watch (every once in a while, that is...)

The Royals did not win. They didn't put up much of a fight either. I think some of them are already thinking of their off-season cruise to somewhere warm...

Pasta Night

Hello all,

Tonight we had pasta, bread and salad for dinner. Simple to make, simple to eat, but a pain to clean up once it is over! Oh well, at least it gave me something to do tonight while the kids did their homework.

Night at the Ballpark

Hello all,

For whatever reason, the Royals are playing very good baseball these days and it is enjoyable to go to the ballpark and watch them play. Tonight we were treated to a great pitching performance by Zac Grienke. The team scored five runs in the 1st inning and never looked back. The family had a good time and I enjoyed getting away from home for a bit.

Simple night at home

Hello all,

Tonight we had a simple night at home. Zac and Ali had great days at school and to celebrate we let them play some games after dinner before heading upstairs to do their homework. Nothing was on the agenda besides taking it easy. I love days that it rains. There just isn't anything better than rain to make you want to stay inside and snuggle up in a blanket.

Chiefs Lose, again

Hello all,

Chiefs lose... They should have beaten the Raiders...

Now it is a week of sports talk radio listening to callers saying what the coach should have done differently. At least the Bearcats won their game.

Bearcat Win, Husker Loss

Hello all,

What an afternoon of college football. The Northwest Bearcats won a close game over UNO! Great Job Green!

The Nebraska Cornhuskers lost a close game (15,16) to the VT Hoakies in the last 11 seconds. What a way to finish the day... Conflicted. Happy and Sad... Uhh... College football is so tough to take. Why can't all of my teams just win every week?

Royals Fan Appreciation Night

Hello all,

I need to mow my yard today, but went to Royals stadium instead tonight for Fan Appreciation night at the K. The family was able to walk through the dugouts and clubhouse as well as the bullpen. Zac even took a few steps on the outfield grass. He was in Heaven being on a big league field. Ali enjoyed seeing David DeJesus's locker and could not believe all of the shoes that the players had in their stalls. It was impressive! I think Zac has his mind set on being a player one day and getting to play for the Royals!

Kids Soccer

Hello all,

Tonight was Ali and Zac's second soccer game of the season. Both kids played well. Ali is becoming more aggressive with her play while Zac is just figuring out if he really wants to play this sport or not. Zac has a knack for defense. He likes to disrupt the flow of the opposing team, which is exactly what a good defender needs to be!

Great job kids!

Baseball in the dark

Hello all,

Tonight Zac, Ali and I played baseball in the backyard until it was dark. Zac is still a hitting machine. He whistled the wuffle ball past my head several times tonight. Ali is a dead pull hitter. Look out at 3rd base when Ali is batting! She has very quick hands and puts the sweet spot of the bat on the ball. I'm working with her to hit the ball "up the middle". That way she will be able to do more with pitches on the outer half of the plate. Right now she thinks I'm crazy. She is having success and enjoying watching the ball fly into the hedges.

Zac is still experimenting on throwing left handed. Jennifer and I believe that Zac is naturally left handed, but through school he had adjusted to doing things with his right hand. When he first started to walk and feed himself as a toddler, he would always use his left hand. Once in pre-school he was adjusted to use his right hand. Because of that change, I feel he is so gifted at hitting left handed.

Alright, the kids have taken a bath and are now in bed. Jen is watching TV and I should get to bed!

Doing Laundry

Hello all,

Jennifer and I have started to get through the pile of clothes in the laundry baskets. Now that the weather is changing, the wardrobe is transitioning from shorts to pants. With that, the loads of kids clothes get larger and take longer to wash, dry and put away...

Sunday

Hello all,

It is already Sunday... Where did my weekend go? I didn't have time to do laundry or mow the yard... I'll be playing catch up all week now.

Bearcat Football

Hello all,

The family went to the annual Northwest Missouri State University Bearcat football game at Arrowhead this afternoon. It was great to see so many of my fraternity brothers again. There were a lot of pictures taken and food consumed. I met many of the active members, too. It was good to see the chapter back on its feet and doing well again.

After eating and talking for three hours, it was time to go into the stadium and watch the Bearcats beat up on the Pitt State Gorillas. Go BEARCATS!!!

Sunday

Hello all,

Let's see... Jen has a migraine due to the weather changes. Ali is with Grandma Diane this afternoon and Zac and I are playing the Wii and trying to be as quiet as possible. We are playing the game Ice Age, the Meltdown.

Doesn't it sound like fun?

Royals game, take #2

Hello all,

Our second Royals game in two days didn't allow us to win. I just don't understand why our team is so bad. We lost again due to mistakes made in the 8th inning. If we could just skip the 8th and go directly to the 9th, we would have a much better record.

Day Off

Hello all,

I took the day off from work today to be with the family. We are making it a four day weekend! It was very nice to sleep in and get some yard work done this morning while the family entertained themselves. The yard is mowed and I'm ready for the Royals game tonight!

Wednesday

Hello all,

Not a lot happened today. The drive to work is getting easier. I am figuring out the traffic patterns and when is the best time to drive into downtown and when is a good time to leave the city. I do enjoy seeing the Broadway bridge in my rear-view mirror. That means I'm only 10 minutes from home!

Rained at soccer practice

Hello all,

Ali, Zac and I were rained on during practice today. It was a steady drizzle for an hour. The kids were soaked. I was soaked. The kids had a blast. The parents did not. That is the difference between being a kid and being an adult. The big kids don't like to get wet unless there is a pool nearby.
