Back from the dead

Hello all,

Last night was terrible. Both Jen and I struggled to find a comfortable position in bed. It was possibly the worst night's sleep I have ever had. Jen went to work this morning, but I stayed home. She does not have a 40+ minute drive if her symptoms return. I am going to work from home and see if I can keep some food down.

Feel like death warmed over

Hello all,

Hey, just a few key stokes here. Jen and I are sick with food poisoning or the flu or .. you get the picture. It is not pretty. We ate some strawberry cream cheese on our bagels this morning. It has gone down hill from there.

I did not put my pedometer today. I will resume that when I start to feel better.

Good night.

It rained today

Hello all,

I have been busy today. Zac was up by 6:00. I was up by 6:15. That is how my day started. I was able to give him some Cheerios for breakfast and lay down for another 30 minutes while he ate them. It did not take him long to find me once they were gone. We played in the living room while the women of the house slept.

It rained for most of the morning. If you didn't look at a calander, you would think it was mid October. It was 58 degrees Farenheit at 12:00. It was in the high 80's to mid 90's all week and now 58. My air conditioner has had the day off. I'm sure it needed it.

In the afternoon I took the kids over to Don Dayton's house to pick up my new putter. I had an Odessey knockoff putter made for me. I had it made to accomodate for my above average height. A standard putter is 34 inches long. Mine is 37. I'm sure some would call it a belly putter, but I assure you, it will ont be used as such.

Jen and I escaped for a dinner for two at Skies tonight. It was suppose to be a night of dinner and an American Hearthland Theater show, but I was coming down with a headache so we called it a night early. We were able to watch the Royals lose again. I guess I should have taken three asprin instead of just two. Maybe it would help the Royals play better....

Good night,

-Andy

Almost done with this day...

Hello all,

TGIF! This has been a long day. I have only walked 4,489 steps as of 3:00. To say that we are not very motivated to be here would be accurate. I hope your day is better than mine.

VBS is done!

Hello all,

VBS is over. It is a small miracle. Jen and I are so tired. It really was nice to see all of the kids from the area at Good Shepherd. It was also good to see all of them leave happy. Now, tomorrow night is a night for me and the kids. We are planning on swimming tomorrow night. It will be nice to get away from it all for a little while.

As for IBM, I am going to continue to wait and see. I do not want to move away from KC. I have really put down some roots here. For instance VBS... I would really miss all the kids that we saw this week. You know... the stuff that happens between the really cool things is life. I would miss all the stuff that goes on here.

Oh well.. better close and give you my stats.

Andy's steps: 16,925
Jen's steps: 8,676

Good night!

IBM update

Hello all,

I just got out of a meeting with my manager. My application is "officially" targeted to be outsourced to IBM. I will find out the absolute list by the middle of August. If I am on that list, I will have one month to decide if I am going to become an IBM employee.

As you know, I started looking for positions a week ago. Now, I am forced to accept that I may not be with Sprint very much longer. My wife is very supportive of me and the decision I will be making. I do not want to screw this up.

My manager told us all that this will be a good move for us all. IBM will give me a better opportunity than being with Sprint. I trust her. She has been very fair. She made it a point to rescue me from the terrible application I was on for two years. That meant a lot to me.

Well, I guess I should get back to work. Or at least try to get back to work. Where ever I go next, I will not work for a telephone company...

One more night!

Hello all,

Just wanted to let you know that Jen and I have made it one more day at VBS. The heat was worse today than yesterday. I am looking forward to having it be completed tomorrow night. It has been great, but exhausting. It is like working a full day and then working a part time job one hour later. Very tiring...

Jen and I are sitting on the couch right now watching ESPN. Dad, don't you wish you could watch ESPN at night? I thought so.... :)

Ok, we are going to bed.

Good night!

Lunch walk with Chris and Steve

Hello all,

Steve, Chris and I just came back from our walk today. Since the weather is so hot, we are walking through Sprint buildings and seeing how much better the other buildings are. As we walked around, we have found some interesting stuff. For example, we came across this office:

They don't hide it anymore. They take a normal sized office and put two or three computers in it. Nice huh??

Well, at least I got another 2,000 steps in and didn't get too hot. I'll write more tonight after VBS.

Hump day at VBS

Hello all...

Jen and I are bushed. I walked 16,154 steps today. Jen walked 8,587 steps. We are both just bushed! It is hot and humid and all around miserable in KC. I can remember some hot nights in Randolph growing up without AC, but this is just too much it seems. After working all day in an airconditioned building, walking around outside at VBS is almost more than I can take. Wow, I have really become spoiled by AC.

Good night!

Good night all

Hello all,

Just wanted to let you know I walked 11621 steps today. It was a good day. VBS was good tonight. The kids were asking good questions and were really enjoying themselves.

Good night!

-Andy

PS. Jen walked 7541 steps, too! In her defense, she was in training all day today.

Ready for VBS!

Hello all,

Just a quick note to you all before I leave for VBS. Day two is normally easier than day 1. The kids have already been introduced to a routine which makes it easier on the group leaders to walk them around.

The weather is also good again today. The temperature is around 85 today. That should make the night enjoyable for everyone.

OK, I'm off.

-Andy

Lunch with Jen

Hello all,

I just got back from eating lunch with Jen. She is going to be down by me today and tomorrow for training at the Apria main office. It was good to see you today Jen!

Steve Brown and Chris Wilson joined us for lunch. It was nice to get away from the office today. There is still a lot of apprehension about which applications will be outsourced and which will be retained. With that in mind, getting away from campus was a welcome respite.

Lunch was over too fast. A quick kiss to my wife and she was in her car and rolling down 95th street. Steve, Chris and I reluctantly returned back to the campus. I snapped this picture of Chris trying on some of Ali's sunglasses. What do you think?

Ok, enough fun for one day. I have to try to fix my laptop that is not working quite right.

First day of VBS...

Hello all...

What a day! Tonight was the first day of Vacation Bible School at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. It was great to see all of the kids show up, but it sure is a lot of work. Jen is a group leader and I am leading a bible exploration unit. Basically what I am doing is a small workshop that runs for 10 - 15 minutes and then has questions afterwards. It is fun to hear the kids questions. I was dressed like an angel last night. I should have taken a picture to caputure the momement....

After VBS, the family had to run to Wal-Mart to return my pedometer. For some reason it was counting two steps for every step I took. It would have been great to look at the total, but it would not have changed the fact that I was not walking as much as needed.

So, from here on Jen and I are going to post the number of steps we take every day... Or at least try to post them every day.

Better get to bed

Getting out of the house!

Hello all,

Just a note to the Royals management.  Jen and I didn't go to the game today and they lost.  We went the last two nights and they won.  I think they should pay us to attend.  :)  Then maybe we would win more games.  Just a thought Mr. Glass.

As for reality, Jen and I got out of the house for a night without the kids.  We had Liz come over and watch Ali and Zac while Jen and I went to Ameristar to watch a friend of ours play in his band.  It was good music.  Jeff's band plays a lot of music from the '70s, '80s, and early '90s.  I was hoping to hear some Bon Jovi, but they didn't have the hair to pull it off.  :)  No offense Jeff, the set was great!

When  Jen and I returned home, we were pleased to hear that Ali and Zac were perfect angels.  It always makes you feel good to hear someone else say how good your kids were for them.  It validates your parenting skills.

Now we are off to bed.  We have Vacation Bible School starting at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church tomorrow night.  Wish both Jen and I luck.  We will definitely need a break come next weekend.

One more thing, Jen and I are going to get pedometers to wear.  My friend Steve Brown publishes how many steps he takes daily.  Congratulations Steve on your 12,000 step day today.

Ok, we are off to bed for real this time.

Royals game was fun!!

this is an audio post - click to play

So tonight we ventured back out to the ballpark!  Zachary was a little sleepy so he decided that a nap was in his best interest for the first three innings!  Boy, did he miss some good stuff!  The game started off by Shannon Stewart hitting a home run on the second pitch.  We all thought, here we go again!  Thankfully David DeJesus made up for it by hitting a lead off home run in the bottom half of the inning!  That started an 11 run route by the Royals!  We saw a grand slam (thanks to Dee Brown), a two run homer (thanks to Desi Relaford) and then of course the single shot by David!  What a great night to be a Royals fan!  Heck - that's three in a row - talk of winning the Central is fresh in the air (not really!)

After the game we got our traditional Friday night fireworks.  It was amazing.  They had about a 15 minute display that received many an oooohhh and aaaahhhh.  Ali continued clapping and saying "look how beautiful" at all the appropriate times.  Zachary and dad sat and watched with big smiles on their faces as well!

After the game the whole family was a little tuckered out!  We all came home and it was minutes before we were all passed out - Ali in her bed, mom in her bed and dad and Zac snuggled up in Zac's bed!  The perfect Scott family evening if you asked me!

Love,
Jennifer

It is good to hear from you all

Hello all,

I to take a minute and say thank you mom and dad for leaving me comments on yesterday's blog entry.  It was great to hear from both of you.  It really means a lot to both Jen and I that you are reading.

Danna...
Nic...
Steve...

Thank you as well.  Your feedback is equally as important to Jen and I as well.  We are going to the Royals game tonight.  Let's see if we can get two in a row.  Go Royals!

Day at home with Zac

Hello all,

Well Zac did not have a good night.  He would not lay down last night without screaming.  I spent the night in my recliner with him on my shoulder.  He would not sleep for more than 45 minutes at a time.  It took a lot out of me to say the least.  At 5:30 in the morning, I was still in the chair with Zac rolling from shoulder to shoulder.  It was a long night.  When the alarm went off at 5:30, I told Jen that I was going to stay home.  By the morning, I was not feeling very well.  I was all stuffed up and just not feeling like going to work.  Oh yeah, Zac was still up at 7:00.

We stayed home and had "quality" time.  He cried/whined most of the day.  He didn't want to lay down.  He didn't want to sit down.  He didn't want to do anything.  What he did want to do was eat.  He had cheerios for breakfast and eggs and toast for lunch.  Even when he is not feeling well, he still has an appetite.

Ok, lets get on with the day.  He took his first nap when I picked up Ali from day care.  It lasted 15 minutes while we were all in the car.  He as not taken a nap since that one and oh, by the way it is 11:06 PM.  I hope he doesn't wake up tonight.  I just don't think I can handle sleeping in the chair again.  :)

And for the record when he is sick, he doesn't want mommy.  Both of my children are like that.  They want daddy.  I know, I should cherish this fact that my children want me when they don't feel well.  It is hard to think those thoughts when I'm cleaning myself up after they get sick on me for the "n-th" time that night.

Well, it is 11:09 and the house is still quiet.  I'm not going to push my luck anymore.

Good night all!

-Andy

P.S. Well, it was too good to be true.  Zac was up until 1:00 and I rocked him until he fell asleep.
What a night.

Phone is ringing off the hook

Hello again,

Just wanted to post an update on the job thing. I posted my resume on the web on Monday and have been called by four different contract firms. Unfortunately, the jobs are in Orlando, Boston and Cinncinatti. I am still looking for an opportunity here in KC.

-Andy

Question of the day

Hello all,

Ok - pop quiz.

Here is the situation. My job may be going away, it may not (for now). I have posted my resume on the internet and received a few calls so far. The positions are not in the KC area. Knowing just what I have told you, would you venture to take the time to interview for a position that will remove you from everything you have known?

Your thought on this matter are welcome.

Busy night

Hello all,

Just got home from a church meeting. I have now completed my STEP training. I have identified my spiritual gifts. I enjoy teaching, mentoring and working with finances. For those of you who know me, this is pretty much right on. I enjoy working with data, numbers and making the two work to a good outcome. I have also enjoyed being a senior high youth Sunday School teacher. Since I have started doing that, I have come to really enjoy watching "my" kids mature into young adults. It has been a training ground for Ali and Zac (I hope).

Now I am sitting in my easy chair watching the All-Star game. Jen is hoping the score is 10-4 so she can win the office pool. It is just like the NCAA basketball tournament when you pick the final score of the championship. If she wins, she gets to buy dinner. :)

The kids are very wild tonight. Zac and Ali are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Back and forth from room to room and laughing all the way. I hope they wear themselves out soon. Mom and I are ready for bed.

Ooops, the score is final 9-4. We did not win. Oh well... what can you do. I guess we will have to wait until next week for the big payday. Yeah right.

OK, I'll sign off for now.

-Andy

Monday, July 12, 2004

Oh well...

Not a lot to say tonight. Still trying to get back into the swing of things at work and get the house back in order. I still have not found out anything about my job. So, until then please keep me in your prayers.

On a good note, my wife is going to start selling Beauty Control products. It is a line of men's and woman's skin products like Mary Kay. Jen seems excited to start this side business.

That is all for tonight.

Finally home again

Hello again all of you. The family has made it back to Kansas City tonight. It was a long journey to Omaha and back. I have not blogged from the wedding yet. The reason why: I have not transferred the pictures yet and I am too tired tonight. So, for those of you that are waiting to see my beautiful sister, check it again tomorrow.

Good night...

-Andy

P.S. say a prayer for me tonight. I am going to go back to the office and see find out what systems are being outsourced to IBM and what systems are going to be retained by Sprint.

My sister's wedding

Hello all,

Today my sister Nicole got getting married. Yes, today was her day. The kids were REALLY excited to be a part of the wedding. We are up in Omaha staying at the Comfort Inn. We got up this morning and went swimming. The kids liked to splash around. Zac was very brave. He will jump into my arms from the side of the pool. Absolutely fearless.

I took the kids to Wal-Mart for black socks for Zac. We somehow left KC without his. All we could find was navy blue. We made it back to the hotel in time to pick up Jen and then we were off to the church for pictures. Zac looked great in his little tux.

Pictures were great. The kids really did well for being all dressed up. Zac was ready to smile for whomever wanted to take his picture. Ah, not bashful at all. As for Ali, she was happy just wearing her pretty new dress that Nana had sewn for her. Both the kids looked great. Jen, knowing her husband was going to looking especially handsome, was wearing a new outfit she purchased for the occasion. She looked great. She finds a new way to make me smile every day. Thanks bear...

As for the wedding, guests started to arrive and the church filled quickly. I escorted may friends that I have known for years and took a minute to exchange pleasantries. It was good to see Bill Ficter and Lois Aistrope again. It had been a long time.

When it was time for Ali and Zac to walk down the isle, they did great. Zac stopped to pose for a picture once, but was motivated to find mom at the front of the church shortly.

Nic looked fantastic! I have never seen my sister look so beautiful. Forgive me for not describing the dress in "dress" terms, but it was a silver white gown that really made her glow. It was the perfect dress for her. :)

Before I knew it, it was time to get ready for the reception! Mom and I stripped Zac out of this tux. The boy needed to get some fresh air. He was toasty. Ali on the other hand was really enjoying being a princess. She did not want to change clothes at all.

On our way to the reception, we stopped at Sonic to get a cherry lime aid and a refill of milk and OJ for the kids. Next stop was the reception. We sat with my cousins Arrow, Catherine, and David. It had been a while since we had been able to see each other, so we talked a lot throughout the evening.

The night went by quickly. Ali danced for most of the night. Her feet must be killing her. My only hope is that she recovers quickly. I don't want to carry her tomorrow!

Better close and get to bed. Good night from Omaha!

-Andy

PS.I am going to post the pictures in the photo albumn!

Road Trip!

Hello again all...

Well this morning Jen and I slept in a little bit. We got up at 8:00. Yeah, for those of you who have not had kids this age in a while, 8:00 is like noon. Zac and I were up first. After a little chow, Ali joined us a few minutes later. Zac and I had Cheerios and Ali had Captain Crunch.

I dropped the kids off at Lisa's house and returned home after running a few errands. When I returned, Jen was up and still battling a headache. To her credit, she has battled this thing all day and kept going. What a trooper!

But, back to the day. We left home at 12:00. But we had to stop twice to change Zac's diaper and once for Ali to go potty. We finally pulled into the Econo Lodge at 3:30. To be short, the room sucked. It did not have an internet connection, refriderator or microwave. All three things the website said EVERY room had. So we are now in the Comfort Inn. Not a bad room.

Again, I am getting ahead of myself. At 6:00, the family pulled into the church were Nic and Kirk are getting married. The kids did ok, but I think it will be a stretch for them to be on good behavior. We will see tomorrow.

It is getting late and the kids are not settling down. I'll write more tomorrow.

Not the best day...

Hello all. Today we received news that my department will be outsourced to IBM. We do not know which employees will be retained by Sprint and which employees will be re-badged to IBM. Either way, my life has changed today.

On a better note, my sister is getting married on Saturday to Kirk Larsen. He is a great guy and I am very happy for the two of them. We are leaving for Omaha tomorrow. I hope this cheers me up.

Are we having fun yet?

Hello all. Jen and I are watching the Royals lose yet another game. This will be there eighth loss in a row. My wife just reminded me that we were present for their last victory. Nothing makes you smile more than having your team in the basement of major league baseball. I think teams will clamor to play the Royals for three games.

Anyway, if you are a Royals fan, you feel my pain. Jen and I were really looking forward to this year. Now our best player is playing for the Astros and all we are left with is a group of players that do not care anymore.

Ok, new topic. There is a rumor floating around my office that my department will be outsourced to IBM. This is not the first time that my job has been put on the chopping block. So, say a prayer for me. I know there is nothing I can do right now.

OK, the kids are playing in Ali's room and Jen and I are getting ready to go play with them. I'll write more to tomorrow.

Fun with Great Grandma and Grandpa!

Well tonight was a good night. It seems that Jennifer and I have finally found something to motivate Ali to poop in the potty chair. She is motivated by money. A quarter to be precise. Tonight she has pooped three times for $.75 and is loving her new money making technique. In a weird way, I think she enjoys making money.

But that is not the point of tonight's entry. Grandma and Grandpa Lothenbach have come down to KC to pick up Diane. Tomorrow the will all go down to Springfield for Jen's cousin's wedding on Saturday. It is the same day as my sister's wedding in Omaha.

Now, I did it again. I have taken another tangent. Tonight Grandma and Grandpa Lothenbach were witness to hurricane Alexandria and Zachary. I think they were truly surprised by how active Zac was and how grown up Ali acts ( at times ).

They settled down long enough for Great Grandma to read a book to them. Here they are:

Here is Zac and Ali eating some cheerios.

It has been a good night. It is time for all of us to go to bed. I'll write more tomorrow.

Good night!

Last day of a four day weekend

Hello again. Yes it is getting late in the night. Jen and I are watching ESPN Baseball. Zac is being rocked right now by mom. Ali is in bed. It has been a whirl wind weekend for the family. Today started at 7:00 with Zac coming into our bedroom asking for breakfast. Little did he remember that he didn't go to bed until after 11:30 last night. He didn't care. When Zac wants breakfast, no man can get him to forget about his food.

I pulled myself out of bed and poured some Cheerios into a bowl. I cracked a few eggs and started to make the two of us some scrambled eggs and toast. By the time the eggs were cooked, a third had joined the table. Ali decided to grace us with her presence. My four eggs were getting cut a little thin for the us boys. But Zac and I shared just fine with Ali.

With all the good smells coming from the kitchen, Jen decided she would join the family at the kitchen table. A small order of English muffins with strawberry jam was all she wanted. Yes, it was going to be an easy day today. We had a strong thunder storm last night. In that storm we received another inch. Just in case you care.

Anyway, as Jen and I were cleaning up after breakfast, Diane calls. She has another tree limb fall and would like me to come over with my chain saw. By 11:00, I was sawing up the remains of a tree limb.

After lunch, we decided to treat Ali to a game of mini-golf as a reward for potty-training. It was more an exercise for the kids. Here are two pictures of the kids.

After the putt-putt adventure, we took a dip in the pool. Ali and Zac had fun, but we had to cut it short for kid reasons. We returned back to Diane's for dinner and then home.

All in all, I think this has been a great weekend. I'm looking forward to having a three day week. My sister Nicole is getting married on Saturday! We are taking the laptop to Omaha as well as the digital camera. I hope to get a few pictures up before Sunday.

Good night.

Parkville 4th of July Carnival

We had a blast tonight! It was so much fun seeing the family have so much fun together! We headed off to Parkville around 7:00 after eating at Applebee's for dinner. The first stop was a Merry-go-round ride for Ali and Zac. I stood between them as they went round and round. Zac was holding on tight, but Ali was ready to wave her arms and look for mom and grandma. The ride was over right after it got started it seemed.

After we cried a little for getting off of the horses, it didn't take long for Ali to spot the jumbo elephants. Mom went first to scout the line length as Diane and I brought the caravan to the ride. Ali rode with a friend she made in line. Here they are waiting for it to start.

this is an audio post - click to play

After that ride, it was time for Zac to take a turn with his big sister!

We then headed over to the spinning dinosaur. Ali, mom and Grandma spent some quality time in an oversized dinosaurs belly... It was just too much for the guys to handle, so we stayed outside the fence and took this picture with my phone.

It was almost time to go find our perfect spot for the fireworks display, but before we all headed up the hill, Zac mom and I took a quick ride on the Ferris wheel.

Ok, we were not done yet. We still had 6 tickets to burn. What to ride... what to ride. Ah, Jen spotted the kid cars for 3 tickets each. It was perfect. Zac and Ali were strapped in quickly and honking the horn. I snapped these before the ride started.

Just for fun, I thought I would try to capture the "speed" of the moment. Not bad for a camera phone!

After a long hike up the hill, Jen and the family settled under a nice patch of open sky. It was a beautiful night for fireworks. The sky was clear. From where we were sitting, I could see the fireworks from a few of the casinos in town as well as Worlds of Fun. Ali crawled up on my lap to watch the fireworks and Zac decided he wanted to curl up on Grandma's lap. Now, Ali is not as scared of fireworks now. Last year she would scream every time she heard one go off. This year she did much better. She would occasionally comment on how beautiful one was in the sky. Who knows, she may enjoy them by this time next year!

Now, I know my little camera is not the best, but I used it to capture a few of the best fireworks from the show.

By the end of the show, Zac and Ali were ready for bed. Unfortunately for the Scott family, a lot of people wanted to leave at the same time. We had parked in free parking. It turned out to be an easy walk back to the car. We waited in line to get out of the parking lot. We waited again to merge with other traffic from other parking lots. Finally, the end was in sight. We were at the main intersection and we had two traffic cops to assist us. Sorry... no happy ending. We waited for 15 minutes at this one intersection as the cops continued to allow one or two cars block the intersection for Park University. A few times they would look at their watch, but most of the time they motioned for more cars to move up. After 15 minutes of listening to Zac cry, we were able to merge into traffic and leave the city of Parkville.

Even with the traffic situation, it was a great night. I had not been to a carnival in a long time and I believe the entire family enjoyed it very much. I am looking forward to next years 4th of July. I think we will pack a cooler with stuff to eat and drink for keep us entertained while we let everyone else try to leave first!

Talk to you tomorrow!

Late night fun...

Well, it is a wonderful night in KC. The weather is unseasonably mild for the 3rd of July. Jen and I had Diane over for dinner. We put some steaks on the grill and had a traditional American celebration with family. After dinner, the kids were starting to climb the walls. They wanted to be outside.

So off we went for a walk in the little wagon. The kids were great. As we were getting ready to head home, I asked Ali if she wanted to go to the park and play on the slides. She said yes, and off we went.

As we approached the park, several families were setting off their own fireworks in the distance. Ali does not like fireworks. She spent the duration of the stay with Grandma. Zac was much more adventurous. He played on both slides and ran round the park often.

The best part was when he wanted to play on the monkey bars. He stood under the monkey bars and raised his hands. I lifted him up and snapped these shots. I tried to get more, but the darkness of the evening was not helping my digital camera to focus on him very well.

This picture was snapped as Zac lost his grip on the monkey bars. He fell only a short distance onto a rubberized surface. He kept his balance and was of and running.

I did take a few pictures of Ali tonight. Here she is sitting with Grandma Diane.

It has been a lot of fun. I am looking forward to going to Parkville tomorrow night for the fireworks. I hope Ali and Zac enjoy the show.

Good night,
-Andy

Little man's big day

Hello all... This morning Zac and I took a trip to Sports Cuts. Yes, it was time for my little boy to get his first haircut by someone other than mom or myself. We waited patiently for his turn. Finally the his name was read: "Zachary Scott, I'm ready for you." Ah, my little boy walked to the chair himself and asked Dad for a boost up into the seat. It almost made me cry.

The cut started with his hair being sprayed with water. He giggled. He didn't even fuss when his curley locks started to hit the floor. I have stored a handfull of his hair for mom and I.

He was a champ. All was well until the clippers touched his neck. I thought he was going to wiggle out of his chair! With a little encouragement, he remained seated. When his haircut was over, he high-fived the stylist and waved bye-bye to everyone in the shop.

Here is a picture of him after his shower. He was just too tired to play any more!

Ah, he is just too cute.

Fore!

Hello all. Just wanted to let you know that I am getting much better at this little game called golf. Today I had a private lesson with Mark Nigro from the Nigro Golf Academy. We stared off with putting. We worked on the basics such as address, line-up and stroke. We then moved into chipping and finally pitching from off of the green. I must say, I think I'm doing a much better than I was in April! Dad.. you better be ready for the next time we play! I can now hit the fareway and green in regulation. Just fair warning.

Better close and get to cleaning...

Almost time for vacation

Hello all... Just a few more minutes and I am out of here! I am looking forward to a four day weekend! Tomorrow morning I'm golfing with my golf instructor. It should be a real eye-opener! I would not have this opportunity if my wife and family had not purchased this instructional package. I have greatly enjoyed my lessons. My swing has improved so much that I hate to go back and look at the old video footage. It is like I am a different person. Thank you all for helping me get better.

As for the kids... Well, last night they were a little out of control. Ali and Zac decided that they would not mind their mother. Consequentially, Ali was put in time out and Zac was put to bed early. It must have been a full moon or something. Oh, the joys of parenthood...

Jen and I are thinking of taking the kids to Parkville on Saturday for fireworks and a carnival. It will be nice to go to a carnival again. The last carnival I went to was the 1996 Farmers Merchants Picnic in Tabor, IA. For those of you who know about the FMP, it is five or six rides and a bunch of games you cannot win. Hopefully my luck will improve this year in Parkville.

I'm sure Jen and I will take the digital camera. I'll post the best pictures of the event.
