Hapy Halloween

Hello all,

What a great night for Halloween. The weather was perfect. It was in the 70's this afternoon when we went out to see Larry and Pattie-Ann. Then this evening the wind dissipated and the sky cleared. The full moon was a perfect backdrop to spooky Halloween night. Zac and Ali received too much candy. Jennifer and I will have to help them eat it all for sure. :)

Good night all. Don't let the monsters get you!

Still Raining

Hello all,

I hope it stops raining tonight. I do not want it to be a wet Halloween.

Heavy Rain

Hello all,

It has been pouring rain all day. It looks like Trunk-or-Treat at Good Shepherd will be canceled for this evening. I can't see that the church will have kids and the parents out in weather like this tonight. Too bad, my kids were looking forward to getting out and showing off their costumes. Zac will be Anakin Skywalker and Ali is a mystic witch. Zac loves his blue light saber.

Cleaning up the basement

Hello all,

Uh... I had the opportunity to clean up the basement tonight. It seems like the dogs have gotten into something outside and it didn't agree with their stomach. I swept it up and then scrubbed the cement and washed it all down the drain.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Hello all,

Tonight Jennifer and I attended our first parent-teacher conferences at Gashland and Clardy Elementary schools. Both conferences were excellent. Our kids are well behaved and show a zest for learning. Way to go kids. What we will be starting is a journal for them both. Both teachers stressed the kids need to write as often as possible. So, each night both children will need to write about there day in a journal. Zac will write three sentences and Ali will write at least a paragraph. I hope that these journals become a time capsule of their year.

Homework with Justin

Hello all,

It was a busy night at the Scott house. First we had taco's for dinner. Then we disassembled Ali's bunk bed and vacuumed the floor where it once stood. Jennifer ran the steam cleaner over it and we were soon ready to put the queen size Select Comfort up in Ali's room. Why do you ask? Simple. When family comes to visit, we wanted somewhere for them to sleep besides in the full size mattress that existed as the bottom bunk for Ali's bed. This way we will have adequate space for relatives to sleep when they come to visit. It also gets Ali's head out of the ceiling fan.

After the bed was erected, my fraternity brother Justin dropped by to work on his MIS homework. It was working with excel and making a scenario manager example for a fictitious hotel casino. We worked on it until 11:30. It was a full night of work after a full day of work.

It was good to see you Justin. Best of luck on this class. Only a month left of college.

Chief Lose Again

Hello all,

This season is over for the Chiefs. Wait, did it ever really start? The Chargers just killed the Chiefs on every phase of the football game tonight. Gone are the days of Chiefs pride. I think apathy has set in for a while.

Bearcats Win

Hello all,

Well, at least the Bearcats managed to win their Homecoming game today. It was a thriller in the 'Ville. The Bearcats won their game against Washburn in overtime! The Huskers lost their game 9-7 against Iowa State. What a horrible loss. To lose to Iowa State just stinks.

Let's Go Home

Hello all,

You know it has been one of those days when you can't wait to see the clock strike 5:00. This afternoon was a chore. I was given a new ticket to work on that may be simple, but will more than likely turn into a long process to resolve. I think the days of easy tickets are over and now the real work has begun.

Homemade Pizza

Hello all,

For dinner tonight I made homemade pizza for the family. I love this meal. It is simple to make and everyone likes it. While I was making dinner, Zac and Jen worked on his homework while Ali read a book. Everyone was together. I loved it.

Yippee it is Wednesday

Hello all,

At least it is Wednesday. The week is half over. I worked last night's Java install and was at work until 12:30 AM. At least I didn't have to be back to the office today until noon. That was the only benefit to working late last night.

Back to Work

Hello all,

I'm jealous of my wife. She is home today and I'm at work. It must be nice to have so many vacation days left at the end of the year! I miss having three weeks of vacation at work. Next year I'll hit that milestone again.

Mowing the Yard

Hello all,

I hope that today's effort on mowing the yard was my last for the year 2009. I don't think it will be though...

The yard looked great for 10 minutes. Then the leaves from my neighbors blew into my yard. Now it looks like I didn't do anything...

Dinner

Hello all,

So last night our dinner plans were changed at the last minute due to a scheduling change with our baby-sitter. The entire family went to Garozzos in the River Market for dinner. The food was great. Ali and Zac enjoyed their meals. The best part was dessert! I had carrot cake and Ali and Zac had spumoni. Jennifer had tiramisu as usual.

Happy Anniversary Jennifer Lynn

Hello all,

Can you believe that you have tolerated me for 11 years now? I guess either I am incredibly good looking or you just enjoy my company. It could be that I'm a good cook, but I wouldn't stretch it that far!

I love you Jennifer. Thank you for making my life complete. I look forward to celebrating out 25th and 50th anniversaries! You may need to feed my cake to me when I'm in my 70's though...

Love you Jennifer!

That was us in 1998!

Day Off

Hello all,

You know what I love about being off work? Spending time with my wife. This morning we went to have a couples massage together at Massage Envy. That was fantastic! I was rejuvenated. We then went to eat lunch with our kids. I had lunch with Zac and Jen went to Clardy to have lunch with Ali. What a great day to just be home together.

My Friday

Hello all,

I went to lunch today at the Quaff for chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. I love that meal. It is not the best for me, but I do LOVE that meal. It is the Thursday special and only $8. After eating that for lunch, the afternoon meetings are a lot easier to sit through. It is not Karma Sutra, but it sure is close!

Life

Hello all,

Today was the perfect day for the Scott family. The kids were in great moods when I picked them up from school. Jennifer had a good day at work. I had a good day at work. Tomorrow will be both of our last days at work for the week since we are taking Friday off together. It has been a fun night to be at the Scott house.

Hello all,

You know it is cold when I don't want the kids to go to soccer practice. It is 42° F and raining. The last thing I need is for both of my kids to get bronchitis.

Clock in my car will not work

Hello all,

My clock on my car radio stopped working the other day. I checked Google and the help forums all say to take the radio out and change the connections. I'm not that technical. I am hoping it just fixes itself. :)

Rolling out the warm clothes!

Hello all,

This afternoon Jennifer and I sorted though warm clothes that we wanted to put back into our closet and what we wanted to donate to the church. It feels good to be able to give to those that need to stay warm this year.

COLD day to GOLF!

Hello all,

It was 29° F when I walked onto the first tee at Shilo Springs this morning and it did NOT get any warmer all day. If this had not been a charity golf outing for Good Shepherd I would not have shown up today. HOLY COW! The wind was blowing in our faces all day. Thanks for golfing Steve Holloway, Adam Murrow and Julian Wilcox. We were troopers for sure today. The highlight of the round was hitting a 3 wood 175 yards into the teeth of the North wind. The fourth in our group was going to hit driver to make it over the water. Now I know that cold will change the properties of how a ball will travel, but that is a little ridiculous don't you think? I normally hit my 3 wood at least 250!

Jennifer was great when I got home. She had a hot shower ready for me and I could have stayed in it all day. Thank you for taking care of me today Jen!

It is cooler today than yesterday for sure. This morning it was 56° F when I left the house. Wow, the Fall is here for sure.

Husker Win!!!

Hello all,

I must admit it. I was very nervous for the first three quarters of the Missouri vs. Nebraska football game tonight. But, in the 4th quarter the MIGHTY BLACKSHIRTS shut down the Tigers and the offense came out of their coma. Granted, it was pouring rain all day and night in Columbia. The running game was very tough to get started due to the wet conditions and the passing attack was slow to develop. In the end though, Zac Lee did his job and put 27 points on the board in the 4th quarter. What a great final quarter.

OK, I'm too wired to go to bed. Time to play some Playstation or Wii.

Nothing on the calander tonight

Hello all,

It has been a night of the "nothing". I made dinner and then helped Zac with a little bit of his homework. The dogs ran around the house like wild animals. I can't complain about anything really. It has been a nice night of watching a little TV and enjoying not having anywhere to be for a change.

Soccer Practice

Hello all,

It was a chilly soccer practice tonight. After the sun went behind the trees, the fields became very cold and I felt sorry for the kids out there in shorts and T-shirts. Zac and Ali both had on long sweat pants and sweat shirts. If I could have found hats for them, I would have had them put them on as well.

Summer Baseball

Hello all,

Good evening everyone. Question for you all. How early should a kid start playing organized sports? Should they be three, four, five or six years old? I talked with a coach in the league that I am hoping to put Zac into for Summer baseball. When I told him that Zac just played T-ball this year, he let me know that kids in his league have been playing since they were three years old. I'm not a genius, but the five year old kids on Zac's team last year didn't pay attention to what was going on, how in the world could a 3 year old remember what in the world he is suppose to do after he hits the ball? Seriously? How young is too young to start them playing in a team sport?

Good-night,

-Andy

Winter Shopping

Hello all,

I think it is time to pull out the warm clothes and get ready for cooler weather. Yesterday I was cold at the parade. The family sat on the concrete curb for over an hour as the parade walked past our location. When the wind would blow, the leaves would scatter behind us and bring a chill with them. Oh, I think this winter will be a cold one for sure!

Gladfest Parade

Hello all,

Good morning! It is a BRISK morning for the Gladstone parade! Ali is walking with her Girl Scout troop at 9:00 AM. She needs to be at the assembly area at 8:30. It is 7:00 now and it does not look like the clouds will lift by the time the parade starts. I hope that everyone wears a warm jacket this year.

Catching up on emails

Hello all,

You know the best part of being in training for three days? It is answering the 100+ emails that you have when you return to your desk. On top of that, I had to listen to and answer over 20 voicemail messages. What will happen when I'm off for a week?

SQL Day #3

Hello all,

It was a short day today for class. The first part of the day we had instruction and then after lunch we took a four hour test. I finished mine in 2 1/2 hours. Writing the SQL by hand took the longest amount of time.
