Pittsburg Pirates Game and Travel

Hello all,

First, we had a great day at PNC Park with Rhonda, Joe, Jason and Justin. Thank you for taking our family to the game today. The weather was a little hot, but it was good to watch another team in their home ballpark.

After the game, we headed to the airport. Weather moved in and our flight was delayed. We missed our connecting flight in Milwaukee. We are now in a Best Western waiting for tomorrow's attempt to fly home.

Day to Rest

Hello all,

After driving back to Wheeling this morning, most of us just wanted to sit around Rhonda's house and relax. I did my best to enjoy the peace and quiet of Wheeling. I didn't think about anything really. I played with the kids and listened to Jen and Larry talk about visits from the past. It was a nice day just to be with family.

Family Wedding

Hello all,

The wedding was nice. Lindsey looked beautiful. The area we are in reminded me of Malvern, Iowa. The reception was in the community room in the volunteer fire department trucks. It was a nice reception. The kids enjoyed dancing. Zac showed all of the ladies his break-dancing skills while he spun around on the floor. Ali loved being included in the girls dancing circle. She made it into the center of the circle once. When she came back to the table, all she could talk about was how much fun she is having. Jen and I were very happy to have such great kids. Jennifer and I danced a few times before the evening got away from us and we needed to head back to the hotel for the night. We had a lot of fun at your wedding Lindsey.

Last Day of Work

Hello all,

Not a lot to report today. I went to work and was glad to leave at 5:00. Practice went well for the boys tonight. We scrimmaged another team. Zac went 2 for 3 and made a few good plays at second base.

Pop Flies with Zac

Hello all,

Tonight's baseball lesson: How to catch a pop fly.

The set-up: Keep the glove above your head.
The action: Catch the ball with two hands.
The outcome: Success!

It took Zac a few tries to get over his fear of the ball smashing his face, but once he did conquer his fear, he caught most of the balls thrown his way.

Nice Job Zac!

Packing for West Virginia

Hello all,

We went shopping for clothes for the wedding this weekend. Jennifer and Ali both picked out beautiful dresses for the occasion. Zac and I each chose a sharp dress shirt to wear with khaki pants. Now all we need is the calendar to turn Friday so we can get on the airplane to Pittsburgh!

Two in a Row!

Hello all,

Another win for the Vipers! Zac went 3-3 at the plate (2 doubles and a single). In the field he did well. Zac teamed up with Demitrias record the final out of the game. The kids are really starting to PLAY the game instead of thinking what they should do when they get the ball. The coaches are all very proud of how well the team is coming along.

First Win!

Hello all,

The Vipers won their first game today. Zac played a great second base. I am very proud of him. He had Nana, Pap-Pap and Pattie-Ann at the game watching him play. Everyone cheered loudly as they played their hearts out. After the game, Taylor's mom and dad bought pizza at Pizza Street. I love team sports. Everyone has fun when they play hard!

Good-bye Jason Ternus

Hello all,

After a great day on Thursday, I had to have a day like today. I lost a good friend on Tuesday, Jason Ternus. He passed away in of a heart attack shortly after midnight Tuesday morning. He was only 35.

Chris Ginosky and I attended the visitation at the First Methodist Church in Maryville. We represented the Dietrich boys from our Freshmen year. There were a group of us that got together and played sports and cards a lot. Many of us could not come due to prior commitments, but those that made it shared a lot of good memories of our years together.

Rest in Peace Jason. You were a great guy. I am glad to have known you. You made the world a better place.

It's My Birthday

Hello all,

Happy Birthday to me...
Happy Birthday to me...
Happy Birthday TOOO ME.....
Happy Birthday to me...

Ok, now that I have sang to myself, I want to THANK my great family for the wonderful birthday celebration. This morning my family surprised me by taking me to breakfast at Perkins. They then gave me one of the best presents anyone could ask for (hugs and kisses) when I dropped them off at school. Tonight we did not have practice, so we took our time and went to Smokehouse BBQ for dinner. I loved it. After dinner, we came back to the house and had birthday cake. It was a great birthday!

Rained Again

Hello all,

It must be that time of year when the rains come every day or two. The yard looks great, but I don't think that Zac will have practice tomorrow night. The fields are too wet for sure.

Good night,

Andy

Finally Mowed

Hello all,

I finally got the yard mowed tonight. It took me two hours, but it looks great. I'm hoping to get through it again on Saturday to stay out in front of the growing cycle. I would like to get back to having it mowed in an hour. That is my plan, but I'm sure it will be too wet on Saturday.

New Baseball Bat

Hello all,

I took Ali and Zac to Dick's Sporting Goods tonight to purchase them both a new bat. The one we have is 26 inches 16 oz. It is a little short and a little light for both of them. They need something that will slow their bat down and let them hit more pitches. Once we got home I pitched some in the cage downstairs. They both hit well. I am pleased with the investment.

Still Raining

Hello all,

It has been raining for four days now. My grass needs to be mowed. I may need to contract it out to someone with a more powerful mower. Maybe Monday will be dryer.

Zac's First Hit

Hello all,

The weather was dreary, but the Vipers baseball team is getting better with each game. This time the team started to hit more and field better. Personally, my favorite part of the game was watching my son get his first hit. He hit a line drive over the first baseman's head and ran all the way to third base. Nice job young man! You are getting more comfortable at the plate.

Date Night

Hello all,

Before I begin, I want to thank my wife for a great surprise date night. She bought tickets to the Royals game and after the game we went to Ameristar casino to try out luck. For a change, the Royals won a game AND we walked out of the casino with the money we walked in with! What a great night out Jennifer! We really needed a night like this one. I can't wait for the NEXT time you surprise me.

Good night,

Andy

Skating Party

Hello all,

I took the kids to their LAST school sponsored skating party of the year tonight. Next year they will be in 2nd and 4th grade! I can't believe how fast the year has flown by! The kids skating abilities have improved greatly through the year. I am very proud of both of them for getting up after they fall down. Nice job kids!

EARLY MORNING

Hello all,

I got home at 4:00 this morning from the install last night. I was up at 8:30 to take the kids to school and then went back to bed. Ufda, I am tired. The garbage man picked up the trash at 10:30 (thanks for waking me up). Then the lawn crew came to mow my neighbor's grass at 11:00. All in all, I slept for six hours total today. I am very tired!

More Rain Today

Hello all,

It rained this morning, but I managed to get the yard mowed this afternoon before I head back to work for the May install tonight. The yard looks good. I just hope that the install doesn't take all night.

Rainy Monday

Hello all,

It has been raining for most of the day. It is cold and clammy outside. I walked to Planet Sub for lunch today and could not use my umbrella due to the force of the wind! I watched as several people around me struggled to maintain control of their umbrellas and finally relented and closed them in order to keep them from breaking under the force of the wind. This has not been the most pleasant of Mondays.

Good night,

Andy

Happy Mother's Day to my wife Jennifer, my mom Carol, my sisters Danna and Nicole. All of our families would be lost without you in them. Thank you for all that you do each day to make my life better.

Hello all,

What I did today.

1. Fixed the front door with Gary Fugitt's help.
2. Assisted with coaching Zac's first baseball game.
3. Joined the family for dinner at Holahans.
4. Installed the pitching machine in the basement.

Not bad for a Saturday!

Home Depot and Family Fun Night at Clardy

Hello all,

The night was a lot of fun for the family. I dropped Jennifer and the kids off at Clardy for the PTA family fun night and then headed to Home Depot to pick up the last of the supplies for the front door repairs. The kids had a great time playing games and getting treats. I had fun at Home Depot. It was a win / win for everyone.

Good night,

Nice Walk

Hello all,

Kansas City had great weather today. Before dinner, the family took a 45 minute walk around the neighborhood. Ali rode her scooter. Zac brought his baseball glove and ball. Jen and I took the dogs on their leashes. We all had a great time and got a lot of exercise.

After dinner, I aired up Ali's bike tires and took her out for a refresher lesson in right and left hand turns while riding. In a few short runs down the block, she was turning like a pro again. Way to go Ali!

That is about it for the Scott family tonight.

Mowed

Hello all,

It took me over two hours to mow tonight, but the yard looks FANTASTIC! I can't be prouder. Dad's tree is starting to really come around this year. I think it may be 7 feet tall by the end of the summer. I'll fertilize it tomorrow night and get it growing at a faster pace!

Rained Again

Hello all,

You know it is Spring when it rains every other day. The grass is growing quickly these days. I think it will need to be mowed either Monday or Tuesday. Come to think of it, I should sharpen the blade again just to make sure it cuts as cleanly as possible. Anyway, Spring yard work is full speed ahead!

Busy Saturday

Hello all,

I was going to mow the yard again today, but the grass was too wet at 9:00 AM. So, Zac and I went to get the oil changed in my car and then headed to the Vipers baseball practice. After practice, it was off to a Chucky Cheese for a birthday party for Lucas! Then the family went to a get together with friends to finish the day off. I am exhausted!
