Looking forward to the weekend

Hello all,

Is it too early to be wishing this week be done? I've been working on a ticket for work for over a week and it is taking longer than I it should. Uhh... I need to mow my yard tonight, but instead I'll be doing more laundry.

Hello all,

The process of rolling winter clothe out of moth balls and into the closets has begun. I think I'll be done washing clothes in April.

Volleyball

Hello all,

Tonight was the girls last practice before Saturday's game. Serving and passing were the skills emphasized tonight. The girls look nervous and are apprehensive to move on the court. Needless to say, it will be like Zac's first baseball game.

Apple Pie

Hello all,

The Chiefs won another game. They are 3-0 for the first time since 2003. To celebrate, Jen and I took the kids to an apple orchard in Weston to pick some apples and share a bag of apple fritters.

Once we made it home, Jen made her first apple pie. It was fabulous!

Happy Friday

Hello all,

Tonight I took the kids to the Royals' Season Ticket Holder Appreciation event at the K. We had a great meal of BBQ and were able to walk around the stadium and have our choice of seats to watch the game against the Indians. We left the stadium before 9:00 and I had the kids in bed before 9:30. I stayed up until Jen and Vanna returned from seeing "So You Think You Can Dance" at the Sprint Center. They both had a good time and enjoyed the show. It was a great evening for everyone.

Working From Home

Hello all,

Today I participated in the DST Mass Absenteeism exercise. It was coordinated by HR to simulate 1/3 of the workforce being sick with the flu and working from home. In the event of a real pandemic, would the VPN system be able to handle the traffic. My answer is maybe. The system was usable, but not as fast as if I was sitting at my desk.

Code Backout

Hello all,

You know it is going to be a bad day when the phrase "We're backing out the release" is used by 9:00 AM. It was a long day at the office for sure.

Volleyball Practice

Hello all,

Practice went well for the girls of Royal Blue #4! Tonight we worked on bumping and serving. We introduced the concept of a rotation and moving to hit the ball. Everyone had a good time I think. Zac was a big helper, too. Thanks for being a great ball retriever Zac!

Garage Door Opener

Hello all,

You know it is going to be a bad day when your garage door goes up, but will not come back down. That is how my day started today. The motor just hums and the chain does not move. I went to sears today to buy a replacement. I started to replace it tonight after the kids and I returned from the Mercury Gymnastics night for Clardy / PTA. It does not look good for me to get it completed tonight.

At the Disaster Recovery Exercise

Hello all,

I am the 4:00 - 11:30 support for Vision at the DST DR event tonight. I wish I had something worthwhile to post. I played 50 games of Euchre on my phone. My virtual partner set me a bunch! I wish I could have played online with Jen from home. At least she would not have ordered trump when I had NONE in my hand!

Jennifer's First Scentsy Party

Hello all,

You just never know how things will work out in this world. BeautiControl was a good start for Jennifer, but it has ran its course. She has started to sell Scentsy products and is loving the change. Her first party went very well and I hope that she has a few bookings from it.

Royals Game

Hello all,

The season is wrapping up quickly and both the family and the Royals look to be about done with each other. The team won big tonight, but they are not playing for anything but a spot on next years roster. I think we have two games left on the schedule. I just hope to see some good play.

Skating Party!!

Hello all,

School is back in session and the 2nd Tuesday of every month is the Gashland/Clardy skating party at River Roll. Zac is a much more aggressive skater than Ali. Ali lives in the center of the rink and waves to her friends as they pass her. Zac stays with the pack of his friends and falls down every once in a while. The kids had a great time. We left after an hour and a half to go home and get ready for bed and finish their reading minutes.

Chicken Chardonnay

Hello all,

The family has been watching a lot of the "Food Network" on TV for the past few days. As an inspired chef, I decided to try my hand at chicken Chardonnay. I think it turned out just fine. The asparagus was crunchy yet cooked through. The chicken was perfect. The sauce was not overpowering. Not too bad if I do applaud my own efforts!

Saturday Fun

Hello all,

Tonight the family went to the Royals game against the Tigers. We sat in the Crown Seats as our end of the season celebration. The Royals lost, but the family had a great time. Zac even got a fist bump from Brian Pena after the game. Brian is Zac's favorite player right now. He could not stop talking about it on the car ride home.

First Day of Bowling

Hello all,

This morning was Ali and Zac's first day of league bowling at Gladstone Bowl. Both kids are on the same team this year which makes it VERY convenient. They both bowled well for their first day back. This was Zac's first attempt at bowling since 2008!

Happy September

Hello all,

The calendar turned this morning and I was forced to realize that there are only four months left in the year. The family didn't have anything scheduled for this evening so we had a quiet night at home for a change. The kids are in bed and Jen and I are about ready to watch some TV and call it a night.
