Royals Game

Hello all,

Tonight Jen and I took the family out to the Royals game. It was throwback Monarch hat night at the K tonight. I don't know who decided to give away a black and red hat in late July. Not the brightest decision made by the Royals...

Finally Friday

Hello all,

Where did July go really? The last time I checked my neighbors were shooting off fireworks outside and Zac was playing baseball. Now the heat of the Summer is here and the yard is looking more brown each day. I wish I could have this month back again. The Summer goes so fast.

Pancakes for Dinner

Hello all,

One of my all-time favorite meals is breakfast food for dinner. Tonight I fixed pancakes with sausage for the family. I grilled sixteen cakes and all but two were eaten. My kids were HUNGRY!

Hump Day

Hello all,

It is Wednesday. Are you having a good day? My day is 50/50. My kids were great today. However, things at the office did not always go my way. I am hoping that tomorrow things go better for me.

Looking Good

Hello all,

Simply stated: I look good today. At lunch I went and had my hair cut at the barber shop on 11th Street. I enjoy listening to my barber tell stories of things he has seen and places he has been in his life. Sometimes a good story can be a welcome distraction from the heat of the day.

Home With Zac

Hello all,

Well, here I am AGAIN home with Zac. He spiked a 101.2 fever last night and can not go to Adventure Club. More than likely he just has a 24 hour virus that he picked up at the birthday party on Saturday. He was feeling much better by 6:00 tonight.

Mowing

Hello all,

It had to be done. I mowed the yard this afternoon between rain showers. The yard looks good again. I will need to mow it again on Thursday for sure...

IT'S Friday

Hello all,

Well, last night was not so much fun for me. I had the July install to support at 9:00. That meant I was in my chair from 9:00 until past 1:00 AM. Now I am tired and hoping the day passes quickly. I hate the day after a night install.

Anniversary of Moving

Hello all,

Today is the five year anniversary of moving into our house on 78th Street. Can you believe it? We moved in on the hottest day of the summer. We had two men in a truck come to help move the heavy stuff. My sister Danna came down that weekend to help Jennifer and I unpack the boxes labeled 'kitchen' and help get the kids rooms set up. Now Ali is 9 and Zac is 7. They have both grown out of their first rooms. Who said time could go by so fast?

Feedback Fundamentals Class

Hello all,

The year of the Feel Good classes continues. Today I had Fundamentals of Feedback. It was eight hours of my life where we watched video on how to property give feedback and request feedback from others. Uhh.. What a boring day!

HOT HOT HOT

Hello all,

Today's heat index was 105&def F. Seriously, it was too hot to do anything in the yard tonight. I wanted to work in the flower bed for a little bit, but that chore will need to wait for another day.

Sunday, it must be time to do laundry

Hello all,

It is Sunday. The kids are over at Diane's house playing while Jennifer and I clean up the house and get it ready for another week of living again. I am enjoying cleaning with Jennifer. She makes it less of a chore and more of an activity.

Mowing the Yard and Attending a Royals Game

Hello all,

Early this morning I went out and cut the grass before the heat of the day could set in on Kansas City. Once completed, the yard looked great. I spent the remains of the morning watching the British Open with my wife and son Zac. Ali Disney channel upstairs to be stuborn.

In the afternoon, several friends of ours from chuch met at the Royals game to cheer on the Boys in Blue! The sun beat down on us for most of the game. I ran to get cold drinks for Jen every innning or two. The sun finally set in the 7th inning. It was a welcome relief to not have the heat hitting my skin, but the cement continued to bake all of us while we sat in our seats.

Oh, and the Royals lost by one run...

Write to the Top

Hello all,

Simply stated: I had to take a grammar class today at DST. Yes, I had to go back and take a mandatory grammar class. I have homework for the weekend and then a test on Monday. Yikes! I have not taken an English test since Mrs. Malcolm's class!

Volunteered Again

Hello all,

This is my second night of helping out with Bible Story at VBS. You can tell that it is Thursday. The kids are getting anxious to be 'done' with VBS. Their attention span is about shot. I applaud the other volunteers for keeping their cool on a very hot day at VBS!

Helping out at VBS

Hello all,

After two days of doing chores around the house, I have decided to throw my hat in the ring and help out with VBS this year. I have missed being a part of it.

I volunteered to help Jen out with the Bible Story station tonight. The kids seemed to enjoy hearing about how cool the Bible can be. I have to commend the troop leaders for being so patient with the little kids. They are a handful!

More Insulation in the Attic

Hello all,

I had the hot chore of putting additional insulation in the attic this evening. It was HOT up there. I hope the additional pink stuff helps to keep Zac's room cool in the summer and warm in the winter!

Cleaning House

Hello all,

I don't know about you, but have you ever thought it would be easier if you just threw all the 'stuff' out of your house and started over? That is how Jen and I felt today while picking up the downstairs rooms this afternoon. The kids were straightening their rooms while we worked downstairs. There were shoes for the kids and cups behind the couch and more stuff in other corners of the house. The sad thing is, we just cleaned like this last week!

Date Night

Hello all,

Diane has the kids for the night. Jennifer and I have the whole house to ourselves. What to do....

DATE NIGHT!

We went to see Eclipse at the AMC at I-29/Barry Road. It was a good show. I can't say I was thrilled to watch a Vampire movie, but I enjoyed being with my wife.

I love you Jen!

Season is over

Hello all,

First of all I want to thank my son Zachary for the opportunity to coach his team this year. I greatly appreciated the opportunity to be a part of this experience with him. It meant a lot to me to watch him grow as a young man. These are the special years where kids are kids and the lessons learned on the field are more than wins and losses. Thank you for the journey Zachary. I would not have traded any of it for a different outcome today.

Friday Night...

Hello all,

It is Friday night, and Jennifer and I are not scheduled to be anywhere... It is the lull before the storm though, we have plans every night for the next week. :( VBS starts Monday and goes through Friday. Saturday we are going to the Royals game with Steve and Shannon McCarthy. It is going to be a busy week for the Scott Family..

Oh yeah, Zac has his baseball tournament tomorrow at 2:30!

Last Viper Practice

Hello all,

Tonight was the fun practice for the Vipers. It was all about hitting and having fun. We had it at Sweeney Gym in Northtowne. Zac and the boys hit twice in the batting cages and then took turns taking ground balls off of the field turf. I wish I could have shown the boys a video of themselves from March 1st when we first practiced. They really have come a long way!

Rain...

Hello all,

You know I love the rain... I love having it rain in July. It makes it humid, but the temperature is easier to live with. Tonight's rain kept the temperatures in the upper 80's. Not bad for the first week of July. Let's hope the wet weather sticks around for a while. My yard has been enjoying the break from the heat!

Season over with a 6-6 record

Hello all,

I could not have been happier for Zachary tonight. He played hard at shortstop and second base tonight. He made two great plays at second. Both of them were tag out plays. His understanding of the game impressed all of the coaches. Way to go Bud!
In his last at bat, he hit a line drive that the shortstop caught with a Look What I Found catch. It was a great hit. It was exactly what we work on in the basement batting cage. Hit the ball hard and make the defense make the play to put you out. I could not have been prouder of him.

Good night,
Dad

Rain...

Hello all,

Wouldn't you know it, I water the trees on the 3rd and it has rained for the past two days. Who knew all I needed to do was water my trees and I would get 4 inches of rain in two days. At least I mowed the grass on Saturday. Now I can wait and mow it again in two days!

Happy 4th of July

Hello all,

It is raining as I write this post. I think the fireworks celebration will be canceled tonight at Oak Grove Park. The hamburgers and hot dogs are not being grilled tonight either due to the rain. As an American substitute, I ordered Pizza Hut. Happy Birthday America.

T-Bones Game

Hello all,

Tonight Jen and I took the kids to a Kansas City T-Bones game at Community America Ballpark. The seats were great. The people we sat next to were very nice. They had children about the same age as Ali and Zac. The dad and I talked about kids sports as well as the baseball game. Before I knew it, the evening had passed and it was time for the fireworks show. It was a great night of fun.

First Day of July

Hello all,

Can you believe that the month of July is already here? Holy Cow... Where has the Summer gone?! We have only been to Worlds of Fun once so far and we can't go tonight after work. Maybe we can go there over the weekend.
