Last Day of June

Hello all,

Today was the kids last day of Summer School. Zac had a performance where he was Ant #2 in the play Bugs. Jen and I attended his play this morning as a surprise. Zac was very excited to see us. When it was his turn to say his lines, he stepped up to the microphone and spoke clearly. Jen cried. Way to go big guy!

Slow Day Outside

Hello all,

There is not a lot to discuss today. The office is quiet with the pending holiday weekend. The house is quiet with the baseball season on hold for a week. I think it is time to clean the house and get ready for the 4th of July.

Support Week

Hello all,

This is my week to carry the pager for the Vision application. I traded my holiday of Labor Day for the 4th of July. Jen is on call as well, so we can't go anywhere anyway this week. I hope it is a quiet week.

Mowed The Yard

Hello all,

It took me an hour and a half to get through the yard this afternoon. After it is all done, it looks pretty good. Now all I need is some rain to make it stay green!

Vipers Loss

Hello all,

We had a tough game today against the Twins. The team fought hard, but came up short by one run. The kids showed a lot of determination to not give up. That says a lot for a team that didn't have any spirit at the beginning of the season.

Vipers Practice

Hello all,

Practice tonight was excellent. The outfield and infield worked separately tonight. Each group started off simple and worked their way into more difficult situations. Everyone was exposed to new baseball situations. There were a lot of confused looks, but with time each position player learned what they needed to do in real situations. The biggest change is every player is moving each time the ball is put into play. For example, the pitcher is running to first base to back up the throw. Or the Shortstop is rotating behind the 3rd baseman on a hit to the left side of the infield. As a coach, it made me smile to see the boys transition from simple concepts to more advanced baseball plays.

Good job Vipers!

Big Win

Hello all,

The Vipers won a big game tonight. They beat the Hot Shots 13-7. Zac went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. He hit his first home run. It as a solid line drive to right-center field. He kept running and beat the throw to home. This was Zac's first game at shortstop. We moved him over to short to see how he adjusts to the position change. It worked out well for the guy. We'll work more tomorrow at practice.

Zoned Heating/Cooling Appointment

Hello all,

I had C M Mose & Sons come out this morning to give me an estimate on installing zoned heating and cooling in our house. I think it will cut down on my energy bills in both the hot and cold seasons. It was a good discussion. Now I want to see what the estimate will be.

Ground Balls in the backyard

Hello all,

This evening Zac and Ali took some ground balls from me in the backyard. They both wanted to get out of the house after work and I needed the fresh air after a day like today. They did well. No one was injured. It was a success!

Happy Father's Day to Me

Hello all,

Father's Day 2010 started off great. We had omelets for breakfast. The family met Larry and Pattie-Ann for lunch at Cheeseburger in Paradise. For dinner I grilled steaks. The entire day centered around dads, golf and food... My three favorite things... Well, besides my family!

Goodnight,

Happy Birthday to Diane Thompson

Hello all,

Happy Birthday Diane! You had quite a day. Jennifer and Ali joined you for pedicures and then Zac and I joined you for dinner at Texas Roadhouse. I wish we could have tricked you into getting on the saddle to give your 'biggest, rowdiest YEE HAWW' like we did last year. Maybe next year you will get back in the saddle...

Good-night,

Hot Day in KC

Hello all,

You know it is hot when the plants outside the house are wilting in the heat of the Summer. Yes, I know it is not technically Summer until the 22nd of June, but it is still very hot. The boys had baseball practice last night and cooked. I brought a cooler full of ice water and towels that I let the kids wrap around their necks to cool off. Tonight it was just as hot outside. Ali and Zac ran through the sprinklers in the back yard. It looked like fun so I joined for a while.

Good-night,

-Andy

Pictures of Zac's Game on Friday

Hello all,

Last night's install went well. I made it back to the office by 10:30 this morning. When I checked my email, I was pleased to see that Scott Allen had send me a link to a photo album that he had published of the Viper's game on Friday night. Here are some of the pictures of Zac and I.

9:00 Install

Hello all,

I am sitting at my desk monitoring the 9:00 PM install for Vision. It is four hours of boredom mixed with moments of tense anxiety. It is more formal than my days at Sprint when those on the call could the SODS Administrators drinking soda mixed with whatever while testing.... You know who you are...

Mowing RAINED OUT

Hello all,

The day has been rained out. Yes, 2/3 of the yard has been mowed. It will need to wait until Monday to try to finish it. The games were rained out as well. It looks like Jen and Ali are running to pick up some movies to keep us all entertained today.

Heartbreaker

Hello all,

The Viper boys lost a close game tonight against the Bombers (15-16). The boys played hard, but came up a little short on the scoreboard. Jen and I are very proud of Zac tonight for taking himself out of the game in the 3rd inning to cool off. The boys played hard. That is all we can ask of them on a night as hot as this.

Strep Throat

Hello all,

It was confirmed. Zac has strep throat again. He is out of Summer School today and home with me. He spiked a fever of 102.8 last night and we took him to urgent care. It was quickly diagnosed and I was picking up his prescription within an hour. He has already started to pep back up while being home with me.

Remembering D-Day

Hello all,

I want to take a moment and remember all of the men that waded ashore on Omaha beach on June 6, 1944. Thank you all for what you did that day.

Vipers Win

Hello all,

It was a weird day at the AJ Wilson baseball complex today. During Zac's baseball game, the head coach of the other team was ejected from the game for arguing with the umpire. I have never seen a coach get kicked out of a machine pitch game before. Really... is it that important? I thought it was for the kids?

Anyway, the boys won and everyone had a great time playing baseball today. The weather was hot and windy. Summer... I have missed you.

Travel Day 2

Hello all,

We got up at 5:10 and were at our gate at 6:00 to fly stand-by. The 7:10 flight was full so we put our names on the 10:40 flight to KC. Jennifer, Ali and Zac made it home on that flight. I bought a ticket on Southwest from Milwaukee to Kansas City at 12:45. I am exhausted and ready to sleep for a day.
