Chiefs Win

Hello all,

To finish off the weekend, the Chiefs win big game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team is 4-2 and picking up momentum. We had Nathan Nance and his parents over today to watch the game. The kids were having fun playing outside and it was nice to have another guy to watch football with at home.

Javascript Basics Exam

Hello all,

My phone alarm went off at 8:55 this morning reminding me of my Javascript Basic exam. I felt like I was a Sophomore in college all over again. I had not studied for it since last week. It took me an hour to finish the exam. I hope I had at least an 85% to pass.

Still Installing

Hello all,

They finished the doors today at 4:30. What an ordeal! But, to their credit, the doors do look great. I am very happy with their work. Now I just need to finish some projects of my own and get ready for winter.

DST Install

Tonight after listening to Ali read to me and making dinner for the family, I drove downtown to help with the monthly install of the Vision application. It stated at 10:00 PM. I'll be here for at least three hours if not more...

Happy Anniversary Jennifer Lynn

Hello all,

Twelve years ago today I said "I do" to my loving wife. She has stood by my side through some of my best -- and worst moments of my life. I can say with conviction that I would not be the man I am today without her being by my side. She has been with me through my time at Sprint. It seemed that every day I was coming home with a sense of dread about my job. When I came into the house, she did her best to make it all go away. When my father passed away, she held my hand and sat next to me silently... just letting me be with my thoughts. She kept me calm when Ali was admitted to Children's Mercy last year. She is quite a woman. I am lucky to have her to pick me up.

She was with me when we went down Splash Mountain at Disney. She walked beside me as we watched Tinkerbell fly over our heads before the fireworks. She celebrated every minute we were together while at Disney. It is a magical place for sure.

But above all things, she is present in every day. The world is just a little bit brighter knowing that she is there beside me.

Thank you for twelve years. I am looking forward to many, many more!

GREAT JOB to Ali's volleyball team! They won all three of their games today! It was great to see the whole team contribute to the win today. Way to go Royal Blue!

Bad news... the doors were installed today. Worse news... the house has severe water damage around the windows. Looks like this will be our vacation fund going into the house.

Skating Party

Hello all,

Tonight I took the kids to Winwood for the monthly school skating party. Oh my, Zac is a much more confident skater than Ali. It helps since Zac is 10 inches shorter than his sister and has a lower center of gravity. After the skating party I went through the McDonalds drive through for a quick snack. Then it was back home to study spelling words and get ready for bed.

Hello all,

I went to Lowe's tonight to pick up the new hardware for the front and back door. I was surprised to see the store so busy at 8:00. Here I thought I was the only one out there making late night runs to Lowe's!

Friday night...

Hello all,

Tonight after work I spend some time outside with Ali and Zac. We played bat-mitten. The kids enjoyed playing 2 on 1 against me. Sometimes they get a little overzealous and hit the birdie way too far, but all in all it was a nice night outside.

Laundry... continued

Hello all,

I think I might have caught up with the laundry from two weeks ago. My laundry room is not a mound of clothing anymore. Instead, it is a small pile of kids clothes that they put down the shoot after they took a shower tonight. Ah, it is nice to be back on pace with the wash. It was stressing me out being so far behind this week. The weather change has really been pushing Jen and I to get the kids clothes changed out ASAP.

This morning I participated in a two hour session that basically reiterated concepts that I have learned over the past 12 years. If you want something: ask. If you know something that others don't know: share it. Network with people you don't know in order to learn more about a topic you are interested in...

Ahh... I just love a two hour block of time that I will never get back.

Volleyball

Volleyball practice tonight went great. More of the girls are getting comfortable with serving the ball. The more serves they get over, the better chance they have to win the point! The next challenge will be getting them to move their feet to return the other teams serve.

Driving Home

The drive home to Kansas City was nice. Both kids read while Jen and I talked. I really enjoy our time to just talk about what is on our mind. It is very therapeutic.

Bearcats Win

Hello all,

Congratulations to the Northwest Missouri State Bearcat Football Team for their win over Missouri Western today. It was great seeing a 35-0 win. The weather was a little chilly for my taste, but it is Fall in Missouri and you have to expect it. After the game we drove up to Iowa to spend some time with mom on the farm. The kids were measured. Ali and Zac have both grown the same amount this year. I guess they are eating well! Ali is 4'11 and Zac is 4'5". It will not be long before Zac catches her...
