Looks like storms are on their way

Hello all,

It is starting to look and feel like fall. The weather is starting to cool a little and the rain is coming back. I'll have to start wearing my jacket soon. Where does the time go.

Fun at Arrowhead

Hello all,

Tonight I went out with my wife, Larry Thompson and his date Judy. For dinner we went to V's in Independence. It was great food. Wow, that place can put a smile on your face. After dinner, we went to the Chief's pre-season game. We had great seats. The fans were in good spirits and the team looked good at times. The best part of the night was being there with my wife. Thanks for a wonderful evening Jen.

Went to the circus

Hello all,

What a great night. I went to see my first circus at Kemper Arena. It was amazing to see it all in person finally. I was truly amazed at all of the activity that happens. There is something to entertain you at all times. Wow. What a great night. Alexandria and Zachary enjoyed the show as much as I did. I don't think that Zac blinked for the duration of the show. Ali was glued to her seat as the acrobats flew through the air. It was great to see my children smile as much as they did tonight.

Good night,

Open House

Hello all,

Today was our open house for our co-workers. It was great to finally put faces with so many of the names that I have heard about for such a long time. I want to thank each of you that took a few minutes out of your day to come by and see our new place.

80° F and wonderful outside

Hello all,

If you recall, it was over 100° F a few weeks ago. This week it has barely gotten above 80. Wow, what a strange turn of events. Who would have thought that August would be so beastly hot and then mild a week later. I'll keep you posted when it snows!

Working from home today

Hello all,

Just another day at home with the kids. Well, at least part of the day. My mother-in-law has volunteered to take the kids to Worlds of Fun for a while. That way, I can have some peace and quiet for a few hours. Thank you Diane! I greatly appreciate your help today.

Hello all,

I was up by 5:20 and on the elliptical cycle by 6:10 this morning. I did that for 35 minutes and burned over 400 calories. I feel great today.

Day at the K

Hello all,

Well I wish that I had something better to report on the KC Royals. However, they stink this year. Today, Jennifer, Ali, Zac and I went to the baseball game. It was a very cool day for August. In a stroke of luck, Jen asked me to take a blanket just in case it was cool. By the end of the first game, it was 66° F. WOW, what a change from 101 just three weeks ago!

The Royals managed to lose the first game in the top of the 9th inning and lost the second game 1-0. We have lost 15 games in a row. ESPN said this team is the worst team in baseball history. I could not disagree. We stink.

I hope the Chiefs have a better season than the Royals. This town can not take much more abuse.

First Spa

Hello all,

Tonight I helped Jennifer with her BeautiControl Spa. Wow, what an adventure! These ladies really like to have fun and are very talkative. I enjoyed being my wife's assistant. I know that I am not as much fun to look at as Vanna White, but I think I did just fine.

Thanks for letting me share in the fun Jen.

Night out with my wife

Hello all,

Tonight I had the pleasure of dining out with my wife. Our two wonderful children were being watched by a babysitter while Jennifer and I escaped to Cafe Italia for a relaxing dinner for two. We had a great time talking and catching each other up on what we did that day. It was almost like we were dating... :)

After dinner, reality struck and we were forced back into the role of dutiful mother and father. A quick trip to Wal-Mart was needed for a few basic supplies and then home to relieve our babysitter. All in all it was a great night. Thank you Jen for the wonderful night. I am looking forward to many more dates like tonight's.

Good night,

-Andy

Another night outside

Hello all,

Tonight Jen and I were visited by our neighbor's children Andrew and Charles. They wanted to know if Zac could come out and play with them tonight. How nice.

Playmates.

I changed quickly while Jen went out with the group of boys. I joined her quickly and attended to the kids while she went inside to get out of the humidity. The group grew quickly as Ali learned of the fun being had outside. Laughter filled the air as the kids played together. Everyone had a great time.

Soon it was time to go inside and get ready for bath time. It was a fun night. I am looking forward to many more of them in the future.

Good night,

-Andy

Fun at the park

Hello all,

It has been a great day today. Tonight Ali, Zac and I walked to Oak Grove Park. What a fun time. The kids enjoyed riding in the green wagon as we passed house after house of new friendly faces. Many of our new neighbors waved and said hello as our little wagon rolled by their home. It is the closest thing to a "Leave It to Beaver" moment that I have had yet.

Here are a few of the pictures from tonight's activities. I hope that you all enjoy the pictures.

I hope that you have all enjoyed the pictures of my kids. I enjoyed sharing them with you a lot.

Good night.

Dad's Headstone unveiled this morning

Hello all,

This morning mom invited the family to the cemetery before the reunion for the unveiling of my father's headstone. It was a somber affair. As we each waited for the others to arrive, small talk passed the time. To our right was my father's gravesite. My mother had concealed his headstone until everyone could arrive. Soon, my grandmother, Lucile, arrived with my Aunt Kathy and Uncle Tom. We were present.

After a few words from my mom, she asked me to remove the towel which she had used to cover the stone. On her word, I removed the towel and stepped aside. I stood to the side and took it all in. The headstone looked great mom. I loved the way you incorporated both of your signatures.

Here is a picture of my Grandfather's stone.

Dad... Grandpa Scott.. I miss you both very much. Thank you for watching over me.

Your son and grandson

Scott Family Reunion

Hello all,

What a day. It started with the Zac and I getting up at 6:10 this morning for breakfast. Ali was up by 7:10 and we were out the door by 7:30. Our destination was Malvern Iowa. Today was the Scott Annual Family Reunion. Every year at this time we all travel back to where it all started many decades ago. I want to say thank you to my Aunt Kathy for all of her hard work keeping everyone informed and excited to come back and share memories. It was great to hear so many wonderful memories today. I learned many new stories today and am looking forward to hearing more in the future.

To everyone who was there and shared their stories today, I thank you. It is great to hear of the times you shared with my father. By the sounds of it, you all had a great time eating water melon and ice cream at the old farm. I wish I would have been able to meet Great Grandpa Abner. By the many stories, he sounds like a wonderful man.

Better close now.

It has been a long time

Hello all,

My last post was the 11th of July, so let me get you all caught up with what has happened since I last wrote in my blog. On the 22th of July, Jen and I closed on our new home. We immediately started moving boxes into the new home that afternoon. By midnight, Jen and I had managed to get a foothold in the house. It was completely disorganized, but at least we had our "stuff" in the house.

The next morning started at 6:00 with a new day of moving. We had hired Two Men and a Truck to move all of the furniture as well as a few appliances. They did what we had hired them to do -- with only one casualty. My daughter's dresser was broken beyond repair. I was glad to have these guys moving our stuff since it was over 100° F outside. By the end of the second day, all that remained at the other house was a few left overs and a kiss good-bye from me.

By Sunday night, Jen and I were living in the new house and starting to make good progress finding places for all of the stuff that we had packed into the house. While I am thinking of it, let me take a minute to thank my sister Danna, Father-in-law Larry as well as my Mother-in-law Diane for helping Jennifer and I move in. Each one of them provided both Jennifer and I with a much needed shot in the arm when we were exhausted. Thank you all, we would not be in this house without your help. :)

Jen was on Vacation on Monday so we spent the day unpacking and organizing the house. It was a lot of hard work, but we made progress. Tuesday and Wednesday I was home alone. Our trip to Dallas, TX was just around the corner and it was time to get packed for the trip South.

I'll skip over the bus ride down to Dallas. It was not as much fun as I had thought it would be. However, the BeautiControl conference was excellent. I learned a lot about my wife's business and am ready to help her as her business grows.

The ride back to Kansas City was worse then the ride down. The air conditioning went out due to a belt breaking. We drove for almost an hour without air. Thirty women riding in a tin can without air equals bad times for all. We left Dallas at 2:30 PM and didn't get back to Kansas City until after 1:00 AM. It was a long night.

Since Monday, I have been getting things straightened up in the kids rooms since they are home from visiting my mother for a week. Having the kids home is great. I have really missed them.

That is about it. Thanks for checking in on me.
