Boys night out at the Chiefs Game

Hello all,

Tonight, the Scott Boys hit the town. Yep, look out Kansas City because Dad and Zac are coming to Arrowhead! We were going to tailgate and all of that, but Zac really just wanted to eat a PB&J sandwich. So, that is what we did. After a quick bite to eat, we headed into the statium. Zac's first words when we walked through the tunnel were Look Dad, it's the football game! Yep Zac, it was the football game.

After we found our seats, we went to get lemonaid and walked around the concourse for a few minutes. We were back in our seats by the time KC Wolf came out for pre-game. Zac was cheering as the wolf tackled each of the Saints actors. It was about gametime.

During the game, Zac watched the field. He followed the plays and cheered when the chiefs made a tackle. I don't think that Zac fully understood the noise on 3rd down, but he sure did try to contribute as often as possible.

By 8:30, it was time for the two of us to head back home. Zac asked if we could go to sleep. We were about to leave when I realized that I had not taken any pictures of our adventure. So, here are a few self portraits!

It was a great night! I am really looking foward to this being an annual event for Zac and I.

Good night,
-Andy

Thinking of you Steve Brown

Hello all,

My prayers are with the Brown family as they cope with the stress of having their father in the hospital. Love of ones family is the most important component in life. Cherish it.

Night at Pizza Shoppe

Hello all,

Tonight I took the kids to Pizza Shoppe for dinner. Yep, I was lazy and did not want to cook. There I go again, losing Dad of the Year honors again. Why did we go? Well, it is simple. Zac went home early from preschool today after getting sick at Ms. Lisa's. He spent the balance of the afternoon in bed getting better. When my wife and Ali came home, I was not wanting to cook. I asked Ali and Zac if pizza sounded good for dinner and the decision was unanimous.

The kids behaved very well while at the restaurant. I am pleased with how my children are growing up. Way to go kids! You two are getting to be SO big!

After dinner, it was back home to play for a little bit and then time to take a bath, brush their teeth and finally crawl into bed. I read Rainbow Fish to the Rescue and Dora's Chilly Day at bedtime tonight. Both kids were in asleep in bed by 8:20.

Good night!

First Chiefs Game

Hello all,

Tonight Jen and I went to our first Chiefs game as season ticket holders. Yes, it was a great feeling tailgating in Lot N43. Just the two of us grilling burgers and listening to the pre-game radio.

We walked into the stadium at 7:15. Our seats are right under the D of the sign Arrowhead in the upper level. Wow, what a view! I can't wait to see opening day!

The best part of the night was being next to my wife. Thank you Jennifer for wanting to do this with me. It has been a goal of mine for sometime. I wish Dad was still around so that I could tell him all about the game.

Good night,

-Andy

Zac, congratulations on finishing your first week of preschool! You also did a great job with learning the letter M this week. Way to go little man. You are getting to be so BIG!

Getting ready for a HUGE spa

Hello all,

Tonight Jennifer and I put packets together for one of the largest spas we have ever done. There are eleven confirmed people and a possible four additional people that could come to tomorrow night's Spa Escape in Olathe. Wow... Jen worked very hard putting her stuff together while I packed the car and assembled the demonstration product. I hope by this time tomorrow night we are celebrating our success!

Good night!

Message to Dad

Dad,

Hello again from Kansas City. I am writing you for both Danna and I. You see, we were IM'ing each other last night before bed and started talking about you. I know that you already know all of this, but we all miss you very much. We dream about you often. It is like you have not left us.

Ali came to me the other day and told me all about her conversation she had with Grandpa up in her room. I want to say thank you for checking in on her from time to time. I'm sure you pop your head in on Zac as well, but he is not the big talker like Ali. From what she said, you two had a wonderful conversation. You heard all about how she is going to go to school and pack her lunch and play with her friend Jeremiah. It just does not get any better than the enthusiasm of a five year old who is in the mood to talk. :)

OK Dad, I'm going to try to fall asleep now. I am looking forward to your next visit from HEAVEN. I'm sure Ali will have a lot to share with you. It is probably against the rules for you to respond to this blog message, but I can always hope.

I wish you were here to help me understand.

Love,

-Bud

Taco Tuesday with the kids

Hello all,

Tonight after Ali's soccer practice, the family went to Margarita's for Taco Tuesday! The kids had their standard meal (bowl of shredded cheese) while Jennifer and I had tacos. I was shocked when our food came out before our drinks! The food was great and the kids really behaved themselves well. Zac even did a rendition of some vacation bible school songs for the table behind us which the family was very impressed with.

After dinner, Zac and I ran to HY-VEE to get some much needed orange juice and milk for breakfast tomorrow. While shopping, the little guy let me know the number of each isle we were walking down. He also pointed out some of his favorite foods. He as really grown up a lot in two days. He is speaking more clearly as well. Wow... I can't wait to see what he is doing in a month!

Just before bedtime, my mom called and chatted with Ali about her school. Nana did most of the talking with an occasional "uh huh" from Ali. I'm sure there will be many more conversations in their future.

That is about it for now.

Ali's in school

Hello all,

Jennifer and I took Ali to Kindergarten today for her first day of school. Yes, our little girl is now in school. In thirteen years, she will be starting her senior year of high-school. I hope the next thirteen years pass slower than the last five. It will be here before I know it.

Good luck today Ali!

Ready for the first day of school!

Hello all,

Today is the last day my daughter will not be in school. For the next 12 years, she will be in organized school. If she is smart enough, she will be going to college for another four or more years. So in short, this is her last night of "just being a kid". It is a sad day for me. My little girl that I once rocked to sleep every night is now going to school. She is a big girl. Where did my little girl go?

Ali,

I hope you have a great night's sleep. Listen to your teacher.

Dad,

Hey there Dad. Your granddaughter is starting school tomorrow. Yep, your first grandchild is about to walk into a school for the first time. The school as asked for Jen and I to come in and take as many pictures as we want, but leave so that the school day can really start. So, if you would please drop in on Ali from time to time I would greatly appreciate it. Please keep her enthusiasm in control. I know that she is REALLY excited tonight. Also, she has been talking a lot about you recently so I am thinking that you may have popped in recently. The thought really puts a smile on my face.

Ok Dad, I should finish this up. Thanks for listening.

Great NIGHT!

Hello all,

Tonight Jennifer, Diane, Ali, Zac and I went to the Royals vs. Athletics double header. The Royals won both games tonight but the real story was how GREAT our kids were at the game. They clapped and cheered. They encouraged their favorate players and urged our Royals pitchers to get a strike out. They are growing up great fans.

Good night!

Nice day today

Hello all,

It is a cool 75° F today -- a far cry from the heat from last week. The weather man is calling for more heat this weekend. I was hoping the worst was behind us. Hopefully this one will be the last for summer.

Good day to run some errands

Hello all,

Today Zac and I got up early and did some guy stuff. We went and had my oil changed in my car and then got a haircut for the little guy. He looks great! After lunch, Ali went with mom and grandma to get her haircut, too. In two hours, both of my children were transformed from scruffy looking kids to well trimmed happy kids. Wow... they look great!

Getting mad at Earthlink

Hello all,

On Monday I requested that this website be transferred to GoDaddy.com's care. Earthlink said it would take 24 to 36 hours to complete. It has been four days. I am getting very annoyed by their excuses. I can't wait to relieve them of their responsibility.

Went to the campus today to see my new office

Hello all,

Steve and I went over to the Sprint campus the other day to take a look at our new offices. While over there, we discovered that the people we are replacing have only been there three weeks. Have you ever wondered why a company sometimes struggles to make money? Well, maybe if they didn't move people all the time they would be productive.

Easy night at home

Hello all,

Tonight was a nice night to be home. The weather was decent. The kids were in great moods. Jennifer fixed beef stroganoff for dinner and the kids had PB&J and chips. It was a simple meal for them, but being as hot as it, we didn't think anything heavy would be good for them.

After dinner, I read my book about Dwight Eisenhower and Jennifer played a game on the computer while the kids played upstairs. After the kids had their bath, we ran to Randy Reed to get Jen's car locks fixed for the third time. I hope this time they get it right.

It is time to shut down for the night. Talk to you tomorrow.

Today would have been your 38th wedding anniversary. I know that each of us has thought of you at some point in the day. I miss you very much Dad. I know mom misses you each and every day. Danna and I chatted via instant messenger yesterday... You are with us every day. Please continue to watch over me and my family.

Rain, finally rain...

Hello all,

Tonight around 7:00 it started to rain at my house and it hasn't stopped yet. I can't tell you how happy the round of thunder makes me. I can't stop smiling as the rain rattles against the windows. Hopefully this will take the heat away for a few days.

Still Hot

Hello all,

What a day. I walked into the office this morning and was greeted by Chris, Lisa and Steve: there were problems with my application. Last night, Chris called me and asked me a few questions so I was prepared for the greeting party.

After a few minutes of getting my head around the problem, I was sitting in front of my computer and found the solution. I had missed merging six lines of code from two versions of a function. I thought all was well.

An hour later, another issue that had gone undetected became visible. This one took more effort to solve. By 4:00, the team had signed off on my code changes and they were migrated out by 5:00. What a day.

When I walked into the house, I was greeted by my two wonderful children. They were very happy to see me. Jennifer was making dinner. I felt like Ward Cleaver coming home. Wow. If it was not 105° F outside, I would have taken the kids to the park to have some fun. To stay cool, we stayed inside and played a few games and passed the night. We ended up watching the Royals for a while and cheered our favorite players.

I can't wait for the heat to break. It will be nice to be able to get outside again.
