Watching the Home Run Derby

Hello all,

The family watched the All Star Home Run Derby tonight on TV. Wow, that is amazing. To see a guy hit 27 home runs in 10 outs is truly awesome. The kids cheered as each ball flew out of the park.

Running through the water

Hello all,

Tonight the kids ran through the water fountain at Zona Rosa. It was our first visit to the water display behind the restaurant Bravo. Zac, being the braver of the two children, was first to run near the water. With each pass he made, his confidence and courage grew. Soon he was running through the fountains ( with a little help from me, of course ). He only was hit a few times and had a great time playing. As for Ali, she only ran through a few times. She is much more cautious and fearful of everything. As I said in yesterday's entry, boys will be boys.

Royals game

Hello all,

Tonight Jen, Ali, Zac and I took in a Royals game. We went to see the Twins take on the boys in blue. Too bad the good guys lost a close game tonight. Both kids were great. They were well behaved and had a great time cheering for their favorite players. It was a much needed break from the every day routine.

After the game, we stayed to watch Friday Night Fireworks. Ali plugged her ears while Zac cheered each shell as it exploded. Boys will be boys. :)

Almost the weekend

Hello all,

The hot days of summer are here again. I was hoping to take the kids to the park tonight to let them play for a while, but the summer heat is making me think differently. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

Back in the office

Hello all,

After a relaxing four day weekend, Jen and I had to drag ourselves out of be this morning. Wow... I didn't think it would be this hard to get moving again after being away from my desk. After a cup of decaf coffee, I think I am ready to start my day.

Dinner at Diane's

Hello all,

Tonight we went over to Diane's house for a 4th of July dinner. Hot dogs and hamburgers were the staples of dinner tonight. As the night grew darker, the sounds of fireworks filled the air. Bright flashes of colorful lights and loud claps of mortars kept us on our toes. Maybe next year we will go out to a professional show. The fireworks scare my daughter Alexandria this year. I hope that she is able to conquer her fear by next year.

Lazy day at home

Hello all,

Today the family just stayed home. We didn't have anywhere we needed to be. It was great to sleep in and enjoy the day. This afternoon Jen and I played cards while the kids played in the back yard. It is a good thing we didn't keep score. I always play better when we play for the fun of it.

Much needed rain

Hello all,

It was nice to wake up to the sound of rain again. I think we had a half inch of rain last night and another quarter of an inch today. I guess this means I will need to mow my yard soon.

Easy day

Hello all,

I just love a Friday off of work. I got up this morning and golfed 9 holes at Maple Creek and then met Jen for lunch. After lunch, I went to see War of the Worlds. It wasn't as good as the media had made it out to be, but it was still better than sitting in the office all afternoon.
