A winning night

It was about time the Royals won a game! They finally beat the Baltimore Orioles last night 4-3. It was a good game for the family to go see. Both Ali and Zac enjoyed the game. For the first time, Ali recognized our National Anthem and covered her heart with her right hand. I made took note of this and turned to allow Jennifer to see what she was doing.

Once the game started, it was time to cheer on the Royals. Ali and Zac know when it is time to clap and cheer. They are just too cute when they start cheering. The more they cheer, the more I smile.

By the end of the game, both children were very tired. Jen carried Zac and I carried Ali. In a few short minutes, we were on our way out of the stadium and the kids were starting to drift further to sleep with every mile. By the time we crossed over the river, both Ali and Zac were asleep.

The night was easy once we arrived at home. I put Zac to bed while Jen tucked Ali into their bed. It was quiet in the house. It was a perfect ending to a great night.

Fun Monday Night

Hello all, just another wonderful night in KC. The weather is unusually mild. I think the high today was 81! Wow, it should be in the 90's, but I'll take it. I'm sitting in my living room with my windows open and the attic fan running. I'm loving this!

As Jen and I sit on the couch watching yet another losing effort of our boys in blue, I recall what I love the most about baseball: there is always another game tomorrow to make me forget about the game tonight. You cannot say the same thing about football.

Have a good night!

Weekend Fun

Wouldn't you know it, the Kansas City Royals had to lose four straight! At least my father was happy! For a Father's Day present, Jen and I took my parents to the Royals / Cardinals game Saturday night. The Royals lost 1-3 in 10 innings. Booo!!! At least my dad was able to see a good game. The last time he saw the Cardinals in person it was 1962.

It was a lot of fun. Jen and I are looking forward to doing this more often. For the KC Sports scene, we can always look forward to the Chiefs this fall. Maybe they can have a winning season. If not, it will not be long before Spring training starts again for the good old Royals.

Go Royals!

Ice cream

Have you ever pondered the power of the words ice cream? They are magic words. They make misbehaving children straighten up. As the parent, I can then threaten to withhold ice cream if they do not do as I wish. I know, it is horrible to bribe my children, but tonight I was not above it. It started at home. I needed to run an errand to Wal-Mart. Now, at the time Ali and Zac were just finishing up dinner. I thought it was a perfect time to move from the dinner table to the car before they became involved in something else.

I was wrong. Little did I know that Ali would have her heart set on playing with the little tykes tricycle and Zac would run to the toy car. I realized if I wanted to get this task done, I would need heavy artillery. I asked them if they wanted ice cream. It stunned them for a second and then the thought of that cold cream made them move towards the door to the basement. It was like I was the pied piper.

Ali and Zac behaved for the most part in Wal-Mart. Ali only started to act up in the check out line. Before long we were on our way to the car and then Sheridans. In unison, two voices started to ask for ice cream once the car started.

As the car pulled into the drive thru, Ali started to cheer and Zac clapped for joy. Ice cream was almost here.

I made them both wait until we arrived home to eat their treat. They sat at the kitchen table and consumed their prize. Once they had their fill, I informed them it was time for a bath.

Not a bad night all in all.

Another wonderful day

Hello all of you who follow the trials and tribulations of the Scott family. I first want to say, if you are reading this, will you please post a comment for Jen and I to read. We want to know who is reading this BLOG.

Ok, now that you have some homework, Let me give you something to write about if you needed some motivation. Summer is here and it is time to let the kids play. It seems that Grandma Diane has some cool stuff for the kiddo's to play with this season. Just look at the big wheel for Zac.

Ali also received something cool to ride around. She has a pink bike with training wheels. Last night she tried to ride it, but didn't get the hang of pushing the peddles. To her credit, she refused to be pushed. Jen and I are sure she will be riding figure eights in the driveway before the summer is gone.

Better close up. I am looking forward to reading your comments!

Not feeling so well

Hey guys, the last few days have not been the best for the Scott family. Ali started feeling sick on Thursday. By the end of the day Friday, I was feeling under the weather as well. To compound the situation at home, Zac joined the infirmary as well. That left nurse Jen to deal with three sick kids. Yes, I know, I act like a big old kid when I am sick. I want to lay around the house and not do anything at all! So, Friday night I sleep in Zac's bed to allow Jen to get some much needed sleep. Saturday morning at 3:30 AM, Zac starts to scream. Come to find out, his throat was as soar as mine.

By 9:00 AM, the three sick kids went to Urgent care. Ali and Zac were both given something to dry out their noses and allow them to get some sleep. However, I was told "it will need to run its course." Thanks a lot doc.

So, that afternoon I started to take Tylenol for my aches and pains and lots of water. By the evening, I was feeling good enough to watch Chasing Liberty with Jen. It was a good show. I would say it is line with all those girl movies that have some girl that is trying to find out who she is and stumbles into a very attractive male figure. They end up falling in love and they live happily ever after. Not bad for only $2.99.

Oh yeah, Father's Day was yesterday. I called my dad to wish him the best on this day. I found out that he was going to be a busy man all day. I'm sure I'll turn into that once Ali and Zac grow up and start lives of there own. Ah... don't grow up to fast kids.

Jen played golf with her father, brother and uncle on Sunday. I am very proud of my wife. From all reports, she played very well. I am looking forward to seeing her get out more with me this year! I'll post pictures when we go play next!

Hmmm... that should get you up to speed.

Fun at Lens Crafters!

Hello again... Today Jen and I took a trip to Lens Crafters. Ali and Zac really enjoyed the mirrors and all the fun glasses they were able to try on. It was a never ending supply of "look at me, mommy!" Here are our goofy kids today!

What a night

Well, in time I will reflect on the event of yesterday and smile. As the day started, my oldest, Ali, was not being herself. She was acting lethargic. She didn't want to eat breakfast or have anything to drink. After Jen dropped her off at day care with Zac, she promptly found someplace where she could lay down and sleep. Jen called me at 9:00 saying that Ali was running a fever of 101 and had an appointment at Gashland Clinic at 10:30.

I left work to take Ali to see our family's doctor. She has a sinus infection. When given a choice of what form the medication should come in, liquid or chewable tablet, I chose tablet. Ali had been taking a chewable vitamin as well as a chewable allergy medication for six months now. Hmmmm... I should have chosen the syrup. Ali would not chew it up. She finally took her medication when I put it in some peanut butter.
By this time, it was time for her to take a nap.

Jennifer and Zac arrived home after 5:30. Ali would not eat much for dinner. All that stuff running down her throat has taken away her appetite. I am staying home with Ali again today to watch her. She cannot go to daycare until Monday now. I hope her appetite returns and she starts to feel better.

Evening Fun!

Hello all, I'm just watching the Royals and the Braves play while Ali and Zac are splashing in the tub. It will not be long before Zac will crawl out of the tub and remind me that it is time to wash his hair. It is just too cute to see him come out of the bathroom and smile at me. I tell him, "I'm gonna get you!" He then takes off for the tub and throws himself over the side.

Well, it is about showtime. Have a good night!

Carriage Ride

What a wonderful evening! After my family took me to dinner to celebrate my promotion we decided it would be exciting to take a carriage ride. Ali had been on a ride one time before (to celebrate her third birthday), but this would be Zac's first experience. We had a blast! We rode a horse named Andy and our driver was named Clint. He gave us a lot of interesting information on the plaza and pointed out things that we hadn't ever really noticed before! It was truly a wonderful evening!

Sunday Afternoon

Well, the family and I went to see Zach Grienke pitch against Tom Glavin today at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals could not get anything going against the Mets. They lost 5-2. The guys in blue just didn't ever get a good read on what Tom was throwing all day.

The kids and I did enjoy our day however. We were in the shade and the kids clapped at the right times and yelled when prompted to yell. They are growing up to be great fans. While leaving, I asked Zac if he wanted to see a Chiefs game someday. He responded: "No". I'll remind him of that later in life!

Well, to celebrate Jen's promotion, we are going to KC Masterpiece tonight down on the Plaza. We're going to let Zac wake up from his nap and then take off for dinner. I wish you could enjoy it with us!

Sounds from the ballgame.

this is an audio post - click to play

Sleeping Angels...

You would think for as rough as these two play sometimes, they would enjoy getting away from each other for a while. This is not the case. Even with Zac having his own twin size bed in his room, Jen and I could count on finding him laying next to Ali in the morning.

Here he is sleeping on Grandma's floor the other day...

Thank you Steve

I want to thank Steve Brown for getting me up and going with Google's Blogger. It is a much better user interface. I was using Trellix before and Blogger is much easier to use.

Thanks again Steve!

Summer fun!

Hey Jen, you look good! I enjoyed the day at the ballpark. The Royals came back to win that day. To bad they have not won very many games since then.

Kids love to swim!!

If there is one thing that the kids love more than anything, it has to be swimming. They look at the pool outside and it's an immediate - Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, let's put our swimming suits on! Needless to say, there are many an hour spent outside with the kids lounging in their pool! We love it though - can't complain about a thing!! Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed taking them!!
