Friday is HERE!

Hello all,

The day did not start out on a good note... I was called back to Ms. Lisa's to pick Zac up this morning. He became ill. The rules state that any child will be sent home if that happens. So, I turned around and came back to get him. He laid down for a while in his bed and was feeling better by lunch. I don't think his cereal agreed with his stomach this morning because he was fine the rest of the afternoon.

This evening, we played some Wii as a family and listened to the Royals game on the radio. Ali told us all about her week at school and how much she loves being in 1st grade.

Good night,

Wishing for the weekend

Hello all,

I am really looking forward to a three day weekend with the kids. The last few nights have been very stressful and we are looking forward to doing "nothing" for a while.

Late Night at Gymnastics

Hello all,

Well, tonight the kids started their fall tour with Mercury Gymnastics. Ali's class is first while Zac's starts 15 minutes later. Both kids went up a level from their summer classes and it showed. The kids looked to be having fun. Both Jennifer and I could tell that both Ali and Zac were listening carefully to what their teacher wanted them to do. After a few rotations, they had the hang of it.

The biggest change was for Zac. This fall Zac will be in an all boys class. This means he will be working on parallel bars, rings and a lot of tumbling -- right up his alley. The largest challenge for Zac will be getting over his fear of the unknown. If you know Zac, you know that Zac does not like to do anything that he has not "mastered". Tonight was no exception. At one point his teacher sent him up to Jennifer and I because he was pouting and laying with his head down. After a minute with mom and dad, Zac was ready to rejoin his class as they jumped in the foam pit.

Our hope is that Zac will get over his fear of the unknown soon. It will be a long childhood if he is unwilling to try something new. The thing is, he normally gets it down quickly and can't remember why he did not like it in the first place!

Good night,

-Andy

Meeting with Ms. Merganhagen

Hello all,

Tonight Jennifer and I attended a meeting at Oak Wood Manor to discuss what Ali has learned in her first week and what they will be doing in the upcoming weeks as the kids get back into a school routine. It was nice to hear the principal speak and say how much she is enjoying being back in school. All of the teachers were excited to have our us in attendance.

After the assembly, we were dismissed to go to each individual class and speak with our child's teacher. Ms. Merganhagen is a nice lady who is very excited for her first year teaching! We found out that Ali is reading at her grade level and is very attentive in class. Way to go Ali! We are proud of you!

Ali's first spelling test

Hello all,

Today was a big day for the Scott household. Ali had her first homework assignment tonight. She has 10 spelling words that she needs to learn and put in alphabetical order. At 7:30 we practiced at the breakfast bar. Once she completed her practice test, I had her put a few of her words into sentences. She did a great job and was super excited to have success. Ali, your mom and dad are VERY proud of you!

Good night,

Airzone

Hello all,

Ali and Zac went to a birthday party at Airzone this afternoon. The kids had a great time. The place was filled with huge inflatable slides and obstacle courses. Zac, Ali and I had fun climbing and sliding. After an hour, we were all very tired and looking forward to cake and ice cream.

Bad Night at Longhorn

Hello all,

Well, I wish I could tell you it was a great night, but it was not. It started out with the wait at Longhorn taking almost an hour. Then, when we were seated, the manager dropped a table full of dishes on my mother-in-law. To make it even better, it was a poor service, too. The whole night was bad.

I hope tomorrow is better.

Bad Day

Hello all,

Today was one of those days where everything was wrong from the first moment I stepped into the office. Steve caught me before I had even powered up my laptop. There was a problem with PURGE_ORDERS and he needed my help. We had it working after 2 hours. If that was not enough, I did not get anything accomplished on SENDSOD all day long. I have been in meetings on and off all afternoon.

I hope tomorrow goes better...

Hello all,

Great news! I am getting better! I tried really heard today to not limp when walking. It is not as easy as it sounds, but at least I was able to get around the office in minimal pain.

Broken toe

Hello all,

While playing with the kids tonight I think I broke my pinkie toe on my right foot. I stepped over a stuffed animal in Ali's room and then stepped on a plastic shoe for a Barbie doll. When I felt that on the bottom of my foot, I quickly stepped with my right foot and hit the door jam. My foot went numb quickly and I have been staying off of it for the rest of the night.

Software support

Hello all,

I will be very glad when Thursday comes and I am no longer on primary support for the EMS team. This has been a very difficult week for me. The phone has rang every day this week and I'm tired of being on call.

Company

Hello all,

Tonight we had company for a change. Steph Lavin and her sister dropped by our house to chat and unwind for a little bit. Zac really enjoyed having another little boy to play with while the women were chatting it up in the living room. I tried to stay out of the way for most of the evening and just let their conversation ebb and flow where it wanted to go.

I am making a lot of progress on the BC tool. I almost have email working!

At Home with the Kids

Hello all,

Wow, what a day at home with the kids. To begin, our babysitter was closed due to personal reasons and I worked from home. The kids were great in the morning. They were up and had breakfast in good order. When it was time for lunch, we took Jennifer lunch at Unimed and then returned home for ham sandwiches and carrots. Zac ate great, but Ali decided she wanted to have PB&J instead. After some discussion, a compromise was met and tranquility returned to our home.

It was soon time for mom to return from work. Both Ali and Zac met Jennifer at the door with hugs and kisses. I could tell that they had enough of me for the day and they wanted some mom time.

Dinner was our normal Monday special from Papa Johns and then it was time to go outside and play before bath time and PJ's. Everyone was in bed by 8:30 except me. I am up waiting on Adtran to come back up after I bounced it at 10:00.

Good night,

Today was our first open house since returning from Celebration and Jennifer and I were looking forward to using some of our new information. The spa went well. We may have a new recruit, but I do not want to jinx it.

Lunch with Justin today

Today I had lunch with a good friend of mine, Justin Worthington. We have worked together for several years now and today I accepted his offer to have lunch downstairs. It was great to have a conversation that was not work related for a change.

Working hard

Hello all,

I am definitely back in the swing of things again now. I have been on several calls today and finally feel like I know which way is up. I know that I need to work on my mid-year performance review, but every time I get started, something comes up.

Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

First Day Back

Hello all,

Talk about walking into a storm of paperwork! From the minute I powered up my PC and watched my INBOX climb to 251 unread messages, I knew it was going to be a long day. I have spent most of the day playing catch up on stuff that has happened while I was away. I just love how people think that I should check my mail while on vacation.

They are wrong.

Heading Home

Hello all,

Not a lot to talk about here... Got up early and took the ladies to a church service at the Gaylord and returned to the room to prepare for our departure. Raph dropped us off at Dallas Love Field at 12:30. Our flight was on time and we were home by 4:00. We are both exhausted and the heat is getting to us!

Good-night,

Last Night in Dallas

Hello all,

Well tonight was a lot of fun. After running the girls over to the Gaylord for their evening festivities, Raph and I hung out at the sports bar in the Embassy and watched Tiger Woods take on the field on TV. Watching them play is a lot of fun. I wish I could play that well...

After I picked the girls up, Raph and I headed to the pool to relax and let the girls have some alone time. Steph looked very tired and Jennifer worked on her order.

Good night,

SpeedZone

Hello all,

Good evening from Dallas Texas! Today was a great day to travel. This morning Jennifer and I took the kids to Perkins for breakfast. From there we went and enrolled Alexandria in Oak Wood Manor. After getting her enrolled, it was time to get to KCI and get on our flight to Dallas.

When we landed, Raph and Stephanie Lavin picked us up at Dallas Love Field. We were off to the DFW Hilton to get settled in before opening ceremonies. While the girls were off learning about the new products offered by BeautiControl, Raph and I went to SpeedZone for some fun. First we took 3 trips down the drag strip at speeds over 60 mph in 100 yards. That was a blast! YOU GUYS HAVE TO TRY IT. After the drag strip, we went to the slick track for five minutes of crash and spin outs with the locals. I think I held my own.

The last ride was a two mile trip around the Grand Prix track. The cars go over 60 mph over a road track. You really had to work the wheel and the brake and gas to get around the course in good time. I got into the car just fine, but I had difficulty getting out of the car. I had difficulty getting my knees out. I thought I was going to need assistance to get out. Luckily I pushed out of it.

On our way out of the park, a young men and woman asked Raph and I if we wanted to have their pass cards. It was great! We each took six more rides on the dragster. My best time was 3.641 seconds.

It was a great night!
